Robe Easter Wavesailing and Kitesurfing Classic 2009.
Well it’s on again, this Easter at Robe. Friday 10th April – Sunday 12th April 2009.
The Robe Classic has been going for over 20 years, and is the longest running wave sailing event in Australia. This comp is a free ride event over 3 days. It’s open to all ages and abilities of riders in windsurfing and kiting. In the past is been a very social comp and this year its going to be even bigger.
The event looks like this
Friday at 3rd Ramp- 10am to 12pm Sign up and collection of show bags
12.00pm BBQ
12.30pm Comp briefing
1pm – 5pm 1st judged free ride round
7pm- 12.30am 3rd ramp beach party put on by
Coopers and Red Bull.
Fully supplied alcohol and DJ
Saturday at 3rd Ramp- 1pm – 5pm 2nd Judged free ride round
Saturday Night; 8pm Robe Pub, Mega night of craziness
Sunday at 3rd Ramp- 1pm – 5pm 3rd Judged free ride round
Sunday Night –Caledonian Hotel- Front Lawns. From 6.30pm Presentation Night.

Hey I have signed up. I wouldnt miss it for the world.. I have had a sick time ever over the last two years.. Last year topped it with having a massive hard on in the pub all night. Thanks to ponney and crew..
Rumors are that i only won the kite last year becuase i had a beat off in the pub loos. if thats the case i am going to left the bar this year..

Finally i managed to get an easter off work... and will be joining you animals down at Robe for some kiteage and HTFU shots....
If anyone has any tips on accomadation options please let me know... although i am not fussy and could do lawn/car/tent/ etc, but i am not sure what is available down there.

Should have a new board friday custom built by PRD in lincon have been told it will be something a bit more trick than a regular surf board a bit more kite oriented to take to robe. he said i should also be able to surf on it. no straps. hope its as good as it sounds. apparently not fibberglass and really light but i dont really know anything about boards but sounds tougth.
3 weeks is it really that far away all ready to go. The kombi is fueled up and ready for the 800km + trip.
Good news about the Friday night 3rd beach party..
We have been able to organize a Taxi mini bus to get you out to 3rd and back at the end of the night.
The 7 seater mini bus will do shuttle runs from Celebration Bottle shop (opps Mobile) From 7pm
And will do return shuttles from 3rd ramp until 12.30pm.
All for only $25 each way.. that’s works out to about $3.60 each..
That’s so much better that having Dessy Drivers or taken the chance on over loading cars or drink driving.

13 days to go.. Heaps of crew are heading to far coast on sunday for some, much need wave training session.
goto to be getting stoked by now.. Had a talk to the DJ yeaterday, they are fully stoked on keeping tunes cracked at 3 rd all weekend..
10 days to go before it's game on, i'm frothing for it. So get on it crew, the weekend is looking huge.
Whyalla had a decent 6ft swell on the weekend with cross shore winds 18-23kts were ready for it now. lol. well not quit but the kombi is packed ready to go. have had a lot of practice on the gagle blasters, skittle bombs and jagerbombs followede closely by pale ale. Managed to get a drinking related injury but all good now. Dam gout in the knee. but the drugs work great.....lol.. see you there.
Waxy, i know we r all getting excitied but having the Kombi packed ready to go already is a bit keen! Either that or your planning to leave this week to make sure u get there on time? If you leave tomorrow u might get there for lunchtime signup and briefing on the Friday, he he.

Awesome to see everyone getting pumped- huge weekend, great crew, tunes waves and hopefully wind. Life don't get any better...
Not lost just hoping to get some practice on the way, i have a thew spare days to get there.

Believe it or not that clothes shop out west that calls itself a surf shop actually has wax for your board. Got some there myself a few weeks ago.

Not much to chuck in though just need some surf wax and i think im ready to roll..... Anyone tried to buy surf wax in Whyalla? may just pick some up on the way maby at my first stop at Middleton at least someone there might know what it is.

Try & get yourself some Mrs Palmers Ultra Sticky cool water wax,i find it to be the best wax for our water temperature. Safe drive dude.

Just a reminder to all that Robe is particularly busy on the Easter weekend and if you would like to eat out on any of the nights might I suggest that bookings would be a very good idea.
Last year we waited almost 2 hours on Sun nite just for pizza.....and I seem to recall not being able to find a table at any of the pubs or restaurants sat or sun...
No accomadation,no food as long as the wind gods are good to us all will be good.
Looks like im packing the bbq as well Cant wait its going to be a long week

Getting real stoked now 7 days to go. Forcast is looking sick.. Fridays forcast - 23C and Saturday northly front coming in and sunday southery change.. Stoked.
Just remember the only way you can win this events is to go hard on the water and you have to go hard on friday and saturday night as well.. So no softing out.
This event is all about the fun.... and lots of love between windsurfers and kiters and SUP and surfers.. So play nicley..
Well I should have won the event for the last 2 years with my Saturday night performance.
So I think you need to party as hard as me.To get any where close to winning this event.
So stoked, cant wait.. this week is going to be so long… a week from now, we will be getting a taxi bus to 3rd ramp for a heaps cool beach carpark party.. Drinking many beers and redbulls, and listening to some tunes… I can feel it now…
