It's on again-
Robe Easter Wavesailing Classic
March 21st, 22nd and 23rd will be the Robe Easter Wavesailing Classic for 2008.
The comp zone will be at third ramp for all three days unless wind conditions necessitate a change.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be a freeride format and competitors will be judged on their efforts over the three days.
Friday night will be a party at third ramp with free Coopers and Red Bull from 8pm as well as a dj and plenty of good times.
Saturday night will be at the lawn bowls club or the Robe pub.
Sunday night will be a presentation night on the lawns of the Caledonian at 6pm.
Entry is $40 and includes a showbag and competition apparel.
If you have been before you know how much fun the weekend is- if you haven't make the effort and I guarantee you wont be disappointed. Get your friends to sign up as well !!!!
This is a weekend, that doesnt matter how well you kite, its more about chilling out and parting hard.. If you havent gone to Robe yet for the Easter Comp, Give it a go..
Its one of those events thats everyone talks about all year, just waiting for the next one..
If you need any info at all, drop us a line, and we will be glad to talk about the great times, and the headaces..
So come along.
The sign up process is easy enough on the first day in Robe, but to guarantee your size in the comp Hoody early sign up and payment is encouraged. You can sign up at Onboard at Glenelg.
I hope everyone is practising hard, plenty of bicep curls for raising the beer to your lips !!!!
Sorry I didn't clarify that the kite bong mentioned by Travis in a previous post requires a kite pump- Simple really, you change the hose for some clear pvc hose and fill the pump with beer. You then pump it down someones throat. Awesome way to start your night !!!
Hav got an old KITE pump aswell will be bringing it down with. 2 Kite bongs i think its time for the ultimate kite bong championships. Who can take a whole bong without chundering first!!! The winner gets a second bong!!!
Packing a spare Chap?
I'll be sure to stay well away from him then. I think considering the amount of pumping he needs to do to get even a half decent result would require something larger than the average!! Maybe a kite pump could be converted ???
I''ll be there armed with kites, surfboards, jetski and me dancing shoes![]()
. To repeat a couple of the other guys, this is the comp to get to. There are heaps of door and encouragement prizes, you dont have to be a great kiter to participate. The free ride format just means as soon as there is wind everyone is on the water ripping it up and havn a ball. Then the Friday and Saturday night parties are madness that just has to be experienced. Really you cant afford to miss this weekend, its huge!!!! And it caters for kiters of all levels so dont feel your not good enough to enter. If you have any questions regarding the weekend feel free to send me a PM and i'll get back to you.
Cheers Kitecroc![]()

where abouts is everyone staying for the easter weekend?
is there a spot for camping at 3rd ramp or are the caravan parks in Robe the best bet?
i also have the problem of having to bring my 4 legged kids and wanted to know if there is a caravan park that accomodates dogs or a camp site at 3rd ramp that allows pets?
cheers
There are two dog friendly houses in Robe that the local real estate agents hire out for holidays, but I think they are already gone. Pete is looking for a caretaker to stay at third ramp and watch over the tents but while this sounds like fun it is not so good on Saturday night when everyone is getting loaded in town and you have to find a way to get back to third ramp. As far as I know the caravan parks are not dog friendly but jump on their websites to check- start with www.robe.com.au and it should redirect you.
Getting to Robe is not a problem for me, but any hints on directions to third ramp?
maybe posting a map would be handy.
It is quite easy to find. If you come down on Friday morning you will see the kiting flags on the main road at the turn off before you hit Robe. If you leave Robe and head for Adelaide it is about 7km out on your left hand side.
If you get to Robe on Thursday night, i'm sure you will find a kiter or two at the Robe hotel. It's the usual meeting place for the guys who head up then. They will be able to fill you in on directions to the comp site.![]()
