It has come to our recent attention that Kitesurfing at Bower Road has been getting extremely congested at times with a lot of kiters ending up on the North side of bower road in the bay (whether by accident or not). SAKSA would like to ask all local kitesurfers to be mindful of the local rules and ensure they do not end up North of Bower rd as the current agreement SAKSA has with the council specifies we do not go North of Bower Road, on the water and off. If these sorts of actions continue to occur it could result in this area and potentially the rest of the Port Adelaide/Enfield council area being black banned for us all. If you see someone consistently doing the wrong thing please approach them politely and let them know of the local rules which have been specified by the local council, not SAKSA.
To avoid ending up downwind of Bower Rd in the bay SAKSA would like to bring it to everyone attention that there are several good spots between Bower Rd and the Chicken Shop which give great beach access. Recreation parade is less than 2 minutes from Bower Rd (the other side of the Caravan park and Surf Life Saving Club) which is practically deserted, has plenty of parking and has better beach access then at Bower Rd (less than half the distance to the beach).
Please keep this in mind next time your kiting in the area and let all your mates know on the beach. Once again stay safe and Happy Kiting.
Any questions please direct them to info@saksa.com.au
Cheers
SAKSA Committee
There where two kiters out there yesterday Wednesday (evening) (one had a red and white kite)in the wrong area again, looking out to sea on the right hand side of the rocks in line with the children's playground.
There was also an enfield vehicle in the bower road car park.
So will wait to hear what happens next.
We all need to do the right thing and politely encourage all kitesurfers to kite where we are 'allowed' to, and with permit tags, as per the SAKSA guidelines that have been posted a few times recently.
If not, all of the Adelaide Metro beaches could get banned, and none of us want that!
