Hi all,

I am keen to re-kindle discussion on organising the "Cannonball weekend" at Yorkes for next Adelaide cup week end (09).

Start planning early before a chunk of the season is lost in a party fog over christmas / New year.

Any further thought on this?

Yorkes is an awesome spot for it. I reckon the run between Flahertys Beach and Chinamans Well looks good... Maybe scope some aerial photos of the area. Make it a yearly event and the Peninsula tourism board might get behind it, can't hurt to ask...

I have done the formby bay downwinder starting from the southern end, i think it was about 8k.
great waves, on a southerly wind it starts cross off and then goes cross on as the bay curves around. Bit of a walk to set up (and then somebody has to get the pumps etc back to the car) plus there is a nice set of stairs at the end just in case your legs have not had enought, but well worth it.
Not a place you want to break gear cause its a long soft sandy walk back to either end and no vehicle access to the beach.

Scott is keen on a massive down winder- much bigger than 8km with an overnight or two stay in the middle. Get on it- we have somebody keen to organise an event for everybody let's support it !!!
