Its on again! date is Dec 4th

Hopefully everyone gave their liver a rest last year because it is on!

This year the guys got in early with Events Whyalla and booked an awesome tide. Hopefully this year Whyalla really shows its stripes with howling 30+knt winds like it is known for.

Ok kiddys Whyalla Foreshore have come to the party are are doing sick deals on accommodation... And its right next to the comp site, and a long stuble but easy taxi ride from the Eyre night club. About $90 for a basic room plus $10 for extra people

Just ring and say that you are part of the Whyalla kite comp, we have had rooms put aside for crew traveling.

Good on the whyalla crew for putting a event on.

If you have never been to Whyalla, its one of the funniest places in SA to kite.
The crew have the biggest stoke factor and are always keen to share that with other kiters.

Don't hesitate! get your car, bag and esky packed and drive on up.

Im keen to see the boys again and have a fun weekend.
Look forward to seeing everyone there.

get back from Mambo on the Wednesday, drive to Whyalla on the Friday ready .....aaah yeah !

Epic flat water spot, sweet setup for riding or just lounging at the beach and watching the action.

Seconding Joyriders comment- awesome crew, friendly and super fun- and the Eyre Hotel never disappoints.

If it is run like the last Whyalla Comp, it will be a free ride event with the top X number of riders having a 30min ish bust out session at the end of the day.

Frothing for it

The event is still in the planing stage, but the date is locked in. One thing you can count on It will be bigger and better than the last comp. The tide is awesome and december is known for good strong breezes.

Hi to all......
Thanks for the great comments on the comp so far.We will be running Downwinder to kick off then as that finishes sliders/kickers will be ready for anyone with the skills, then the Freestyle in all divisions with prob best 10 to 15 riders out as pro shootout, following if time a freeride for everyone to go stupid and get as many kites on the water as possible for a great photoshoot from Hummock Hill and then to wrap it up a Newby for our comp a BORDERCROSS best dressed!!!!!!!!!!! Eg...Geoff (crossdress)Waxy(Santa)Phil(Borat)Crok(Priscila) etc....Big PRIZE for this one!
Along with Events Whyalla,Tony Angel(Avid Engineering) and Xtreme Kites & Paddle we are going to create a Huge event for every rider to enjoy with cash and product prizes totaling over $5000.We are currently working on getting Kiteboarder Mag to the comp as well so we can gain national and international recognition so the comp will grow in years to come.
We will have more info as it happens and yes we do need a few more officials,mc's and whatevers so if you keen to help out just give us a shout.

It's been a wet winter, so there is a chance the wind in whyalla wont be as strong. So definitely bring a big kite

Well it's been dry here and the seabreezes have been off and on all winter. Not sure the 12m will come on the trip not sure how many times a kite can be repaired before it is just not worth it??? Great session this arvo finished with a split leading edge and bladder. Off for repairs I may have to use a surfboard with the 8m
