Just got a Ben Mctavish 6' quad surfboard.
Glassed as a surfboard not as a kite board life maybe limited!!
Have been using kite board directionals with and without straps dependent on conditions.
Applied a front foot pad as grip and to save the deck for as long as possible.
Kite board directionals work fine and will last but nothing surfs like a traditional glass surfboard in waves.
New board is a traditional SB rounded pin 19" wide and 21/2" thick, can surf it prone.
Volume is probably in the high 20's can feel the volume when the kite drifts and the board is just surfing at lower speeds it holds the plane.
Perfect volume for the marginal qld afternoon seabreeze.
Quad grips and drives and climbs up wind in marginal conditions.
25knts will max it out and I'll swap back to a KB directional.
Ben's designs are good and he's dad's been at it for a few years as well.
Writing the review to promote local surfboard shapers as consideration when buying directionals.
Clean surfboards without straps such a blast to kite.
Cheers.
