Hey gys just wanted some oppinions before i go to get consumer protection

My T3 kite toar down from leading edge to trailing massiv tear down the seam when i crashed it into the water and relunched it tore on a gust of wind

i sent my slingshot warrenty form to the shop and after 3 weeks they tell me there going to repair it, in my opinion thats unaccteptable as it was only 1 month old from brand new should i just goto consumer protect and ask for a replacment or is a repair just as good i just feel like a new kite being repaird will never be the same again???

cheers mike

It's hard to say as nobody but you knows how much it was inflated, how hard you plowed it into the water or what condition the kite was actually in when you crashed it. I suppose its a bit like crashing a 3 week old car. If it isn't totalled they will repair it.

Either way the resale value has just dropped

If every kite company replaced every kite under warrantee that got damaged out on the water they would all go broke. I think there doing right by you repairing it. Its just a bummer that it happened so new

Its great that Slingshot wants to repair this when similar thing happened to my Waroo they told me to go and get stuffed and they were very right, so be happy and live with the fact that resale value is gone with the wind, most important is that kite will fly as new if repair is done proply

Maybe it had nothing to do with the shop. It's not the shops call to warrant it or not, its the brands responsibility.

Kites rip for lots of reasons, you might have had a small shell cut in the sail where it tore and when you crashed the extra load made a big hole.
Be very thankful that SS are going to repair it, they probably don't have to and will be doing it as a goodwill gesture to you, to show you they support their customers.

If the repair is done by Neil at Hold the Line Kites in Wembley it will be as good as new and resale value will hardly be affected. However if you are not selling the kite there is no issue about resale value and I don't know why people say that??
Maybe its becasue some people bargain hard when they buy a used kite with a repair in it??
Straight rips from LE to TE in the sail are nothing, they never affect how the kite flies and are usually easy to repair and easy to make the repair near invisible.

Yeh i was told it was going to be done by neil ok well thanks makes me feel abit better was thinking my kite was gonu be useless.... still was able to get hold of andrew owner of slingshots number as i still havnt got an answer in stone yet.... would it be worth just getting it repaird by neil now and getting SS to pay for it after to speed up the process?

Why dont you ask the shop you bought it from if they will lend you a kite for easter.
