I,m going to buy new 2013 kite and I can make my maind for park or envy in 10 or 10.5 m any review yet
Just rode my new 2013 10 m park, verdict.............more like the torch in jumps, has the explosive pop and goes high and seems easier to hit the sweet spot than before. Didnt unhook yet so will let you know after next session. loops with more power than previously, bottom end issues are sorted, top end seems to be as good as before, hang time is improved and the landings are real soft. Seems more stable and power delivery now smoother than previous models. Leading edge seems thinner. It seems to have more of a c kite type feeling than previously but you can kill the kite easily in the bar throw. New swivel looks cool but will wait and see if it keeps working. Grunt settings on leading edge really work and make it angry when set to max grunt. I think it has a bit more bar pressure as well.
Didn't get into the surf on the surfboard yet but a couple of times I rode towards it and it seemed to drift pretty well.
Can't comment on envy but if the quality is anything like what it was in the 2008 liquid force gear I would say stay well away from it....it will need to be really good to match this kite. Actually don't even bother, get a park they have nailed it on the 3rd edition.
I havent ridden the 2013 park but i would go the Envy every time over the park based on the last few years.
More power for the size, super easy relaunch, realy stable, pops really well etc.
Best bet is to go to West Oz kiteboarding and try it.
i've heard the envy is the duck's nuts this year from a mate who used to be completely sold on C kites only, even said he preferred it over what ever they call the new hifi.
I would strongly suggest trying out the Best TS as well, excellent all rounder. I'm sure Nigel in geraldton has one for demo and not too sure whether Phil at Kitesurfsup has one yet.
+1 for the Envy.
Good luck getting your hands on one though. The first batch sold quick and I think they're on back-order now...
even though both the Park and the Envy are both 3 strut kites they are extremely different in feel, they do crossover from surf board riding to twin tips very well.
the Park is a little more nimble than the Envy and has a soft feeling in the air.
the Envy has a gruntier feel as it sits a little further back in the window, this also gives it slightly heavier bar pressure for better feedback to the rider.
both kites have below the bar depower.
both kites are supported by a very good locat distributor system.
both are good kites and you wont go wrong with either.
After another session on the park in a weak northerly I found it to have reasonable bottom end. Unhooked abut and played around. Found you have to trim around 50 mm of trim and it unhooks happily even in light rubbish wind, kite was on the settings straight out of the bag, so this is normal. It automatically went to 12 when i loaded and popped like the torch, i think it unhooks better than last years. I found bar pressure is heavier than previous models and needs extra input for fast turning. But this kite is pretty quick. Seems to go upwind easily in light winds. Saw a couple of envy kites today and I gotta say they are one weird looking kite.
2013 Park definitely flys better sheeted out a bit, i have only flown the kite 5 times now so need to spend some time dialling it in.
Advice please, new to the Parks. My head tells me that using the end attachments at the tips will lessen the bar pressure and slow the turns, and using the inside will increase pressure and make the turns quicker. I've been told that the end attachments will increase turn speed due to the pivot point, whatever that means. can anyone clear this up please?
Hi. The new Park is amazing and represents a real improvement of the previous one. Here' s a short video of the first sessions I had in Maui with the 12 mt. this month. No big waves in those days but overall funny conditions:
