I actually asked Darren at ActionSports / AKS the same question last Friday. They suggested most 4 line bars will be OK.

Or get a sensor bar? I know Darren has them in stock and they can be used on all core kites.

You want a cheap 12m core, kite only. I have one for sale soon

These days 4 Line bars designs are mainly between the 2 types illustrated above.

The most common type is the combination of High ''V'' and dual front line flagging, such as with Core kites.

Mixing with a different bar that has a lower ''V'' (such as Ozone) is going to ''work'' as well but will give poorer flying performance especially on larger kites. For best results it's always better to match the height of the ''V'' as well as the type of safety system (single or dual front lines). If you match those you'll definitely have no difference at all with flying performance or safety systems performance.

Also, some kites have different Larks head / pig tail configurations so sometimes you'll have to switch the connectors to make it fit.

Cubulota,
Can you explain why the two dirrerent line set ups will affect flying performance?
For example I have a 2014 cabrihna bar (single front line flagging) that I use with older cab kites (dual front line flagging)
I haven't thought too much about it but I haven't noticed that the kites fly any differently.

Hi Nigel,

We can talk about 2 different aspects here : safety and performance

Safety :

The dual front line flagging works only on kite with bridle including pulleys.
This system is not 100% safe and there are some rare case depending on conditions, shape of the kites where the kites will not flag. Especially a light wind day.

The single front line flagging works on all the kites.
The single front line flagging is a 100% safety system if the stopper ball on the release line allow the bar to travel enough to flag out the kite.

Performance :

When you have to think about performance it's good to take the case that you are studying to the extreme.
So the question here is what happen if you put the V section 1 meter from the kite ?
This will lock the shape and the kite will not twist. This means the kite will not turn as well as a lower V.
This is the study case to understand the principle.

Now if you take brands like Core, North or Ikon, we have decided to put the V higher than other brands like Airush or BWS.
This doesn't mean that the North turns less faster than the Airush. There are billion other factors that can affect speed turning like general shape, bridle, diameter of Leading Edge...

So what you have to remember is that changing the position of the V will affect slightly the turning speed of your kite.

In your case, I would only check than the bar is tuned properly and the pigtails connection fit the kite. If you are going to buy a Core kite, both safety system will work on it.

Also make sure you try your kite the first time on a light wind day and pull the safety to see what happened... avoid winter storm for a first try.

Good luck and ride safe

Ben
