After thoughts on the above two boards, has anyone ridden them back to back and can offer some decent opinion. currently riding 2013 5'8" slingshot celeritas strapless. thinking of next board.
cheers.
horey.
I rode the drifter and the 6' rawson on a BWS demo day in WA. Disclaimer: the winds were lightish, and the waves were 2' mush. I rode the rawson first and really enjoyed it. rode it for an hour or so, while waiting for a go on the drifter. I was looking forward to trying the drifter as it is meant to be better on those conditions, but after riding it, i still preferred the rawson. The wind may have eased off slightly while on the drifter, so i may not have had the full effect.
Saying all that, i own a BWS mulcoy which i love, but i personally would consider the rawson, and is sturdier than a mulcoy.
i'm 100+ kegs and 6'2 with a surfing background. hope this helps.
kyter,
thanks for your oppinion. i have friends that have drifters and they rate them highly however when the wind gets over 25 knts the tail area and width makes them hard to slow down especially off a big top turn. i know there is no such thing as a perfect board but the more pulled in tail on the rawson looks like it would handle the higher winds better. any idea about the rockers? the drifter is pretty flat. my celeritas get way to fast in high winds to much tail area too. bought a grommet 5'7" for those nuking days.
