I haven't tried a foil yet, but I spent all last summer kiteing where this foil was designed and tested, and I watched lots of kiters go out for the first time with it. All the talk was positive, easy and forgiving to learn on. Then you need to upgrade the wings once you figure it all out. For the price, I don't see how you could go wrong. It's a little heavier then carbon, of course.
I know that you're from Vic but if anyone in NSW is interested we are having an LF foil demo day at Kitepower on the 28th of December. From what we hear it is insanely easy to ride and a great jumping off point into this side of the sport. Bonus is you can still use the kite fish as a surf! Pretty good for under 2k....
2k for that design? I'd rather go for the Sroka one, same price but the design looks way more refined.

The good news for those waiting is that they are now on the way.
Hey guys, it was awesome watching user 'doycle' ride the foil fish at Mambo, he gave us great feedback which he has then written in his review. I have only tried riding this board a few short times and with doycle' basic instructions, I was able to ride on the foil some distance - one way at least!
One thing to remember here, is this setup is purely production; meaning they are made in bulk in a large board factory etc, there is no lead time once the production run starts and there will be plenty of stock and spare parts. Custom made foils are for sure lighter etc, but they are custom made meaning they can only produce small numbers and most are way more expensive. The fish board alone is quite a versatile board; surf it, kite it, jump it and foil with it etc. This combo is designed with entry level foil boarding in mind, it is designed to be more stable, plan early and be predictive. It is not however a race foil nor will it suit everybody, some will still want the custom models as they are more refined, lighter, faster, etc etc but the LF one is designed to be robust and take the knocks beginner foilers will put it through.
Our Australian shipment should arrive at the warehouse next week with follow-on delivery to our LF dealers shortly after. We have planned a few demo/coaching days with the demo boards we have, but the foil wings are still the prototypes and are not the finished product, they work just fine but are slightly heavier than the ones which are being shipped.
The next demo is in Sydney with Kitepower on the Sunday 28th Jan, check in with them for more details and have a look at the events section of Seabreeze!
If you have any further questions feel free to PM me (I am no way a Foil expert!!) or call the Australian LF importer ML Watersports direct on (07) 3889 9100
Cheers,
Chris Wardell

cheers,
Robbie :)
Yes Puetz
... thanks, is there a recommended retail price avaiable yet?
$1599 foil only.
How much for the full kit? Board, bags, foil, etc
Hi All, I too gave this foil a go down at Mambo. Like Doycle I reguarly ride and race foils, and have experience with Lister, Carafino, Spotz, Sword, Zeeko and alpine.
The liquid force foil is a super easy to ride, fun foil for everyday. It starts foiling at really low speeds and has very good stability in all planes. I had a great time carving between toe and heel side on waves, which I find difficult to do with any other foil. The foils are massive, so you wont be breaking any speed records, but at any speed foiling feels fast, and its the same feeling of flying no matter how fast you go.
The construction is heavy but bulletproof. No worries if you hit sandbars the thing wont break.
I didn't try the board by itself but it is a heavy duty fish style board which felt nice underfoot.
A nice product from liquid force filling a gap in the market.
The big win for Liquid Force will be if they can have stock in a local store and you can see it and touch it and ride it (or watch guys of a known skill level riding one).
At the current price of foils it is way too much money to take a punt on one to see if you like it. Up until recently the cheapest you could get was an MHL at US$2600 including shipping. That's way too close to $3000 to buy an unseen product. My take a punt price point is about $1500 and even that hurts when the product is a dud. The second hand foils are around $2500 and the guys selling are trying to recoup the $4000 they spent.
The other two issues Liquid Force have addressed for me is to:
1) provide a multi-function board that you can use (it costs $250 extra to add fin boxes in an MHL and you have to make all sorts of custom board decisions)
2) provide decent bags for the foil and a system that can be quickly disassembled. It is a pain to try and get a fully assembled foil in the car. Even raceboards are nuisance dealing with long razor sharp fins.
The foil just arrived in shop this morning! Looks awesome can't wait to have a go. Like Chwar said we are having a demo on the 28th of December.
I think Gorgo really hit it on the head. We all know (as does LF) that this is not the highest performance foil on the market. It is meant to be easy to ride, cheap, durable, and fun. It most certainly will be all of these things. Like I said, it's $1995 for everything you see and yes the Kite Fish can be used as a stand alone surfboard. Really good value and a great way to get into this awesome aspect of the sport.
Just got back from my first session on the LF Foilfish... What a rush! Honestly some of the best fun I have had kiting in years. For the first few tacks I felt like a complete newbie again. Beware that foiling is much harder than it looks! By the end of my 1.5 hr session I could ride both ways pretty quickly while staying on the foil for extended periods of time.
I'll tell you something... foiling literally feels like you're flying. It's a sensation I've never had before and I think I'm addicted. The one thing I did find funny was that going downwind is harder than going upwind so it's kind of the opposite of when you start kiting. Usually you end up way at the bottom of the beach but I was battling to get down to where I started from! So fun though, and honestly this foil was so user friendly. I really appreciated how big the board is to get up on the first time and the foil didn't feel out of control even when overpowered. Also, we rode it way into the shallows and banged it off of some fences while carrying it around and I was so glad it wasn't carbon. It isn't heavy either even though it's aluminium. An absolute winner in my books. I was so surprised at being overpowered in 12 knots. I was on the 15.5 Solo though so it shouldn't be that much of a shock haha. One problem I foresee is a lot of angry wives... You'll be on the water way more than you should be!
So the question that remains unanswered is...
How much for the full setup inc bag..?
$1999 :)
had my first go on the LF foilfish today..
the most scared ive been kiting for ages.
Ive also had a go on the Carafino from "theZu".
felt the LF was easier, and i could get going in both directions, upwind and down.
still at the scared as **** stage, with small flights and dolphin jumps.

Good to hear pk as I've just ordered one and am hoping to get proficient in time for the lighter autumn/winter winds over here. Would love to hear what tips you have for getting to grips with it and how to fall off safely etc if you have time. Maybe theres a place for a "foil newbie tips" thread?
I have been using a 19M and a Sector for light winds but am selling both for a LF FisfFoil as the guys that have mastered it are having so much fun with 12M kites in 9-11 knots !
Here is a hot tip, don't set your foil up like the boys in NZ.
I'm not surprised he found it difficult with wings back to front. ![]()
Not much has been said about the LF fish board. It's a great board on its own. It's the only board I've ridden for the last 3 years. It's a bit heavier then most boards, but it's great in all conditions and it can take a beating. It's also easy to travel with. So this board, with the foil, really can do it all.
Just a reminder that we are having the foil clinic today in Sydney! Come check out the LF foil and have a ride. Meeting at Kitepower Sydney at 2pm!
