I saw on kiteforum that the guys from Wombat (aussie company) have released a kite attachment for their ground anchor. For those who don't know, its a screw in sand anchor you can use it as a self launching/landing tool as the anchor can hold about 500kg's so if anything happens, your kite isn't going anywhere. This is more aimed towards the people who kite alone the whole time....and no, I don't have any affiliation with them.
I mailed them and this is the info I got for anyone that is interested:
The cost of the 'Kite Ring" is $45 inc gst plus freight.
This includes a high tensile bolt which connects the Ring to the Wombat.
The Karabiner is of commercial quality and rated. (brands like mammut/lucky/miller etc)
The strap is supplied and multiple sewn by a company that specializes in
military vehicle recovery.
Wombats are additional
Wombat kit (2 galv wombats/2 d-shackles/2 marker flags/install tool) AU$70 inc gst
Single wombat (1 galv wombat/1 shackle/1 flag/1 install tool) AU$42 inc gst
+ freight

Looks good. We welded on some stainless sheet on to a dog screw anchor to basically look like that and it works well.
Just heard that Cabrinha and Greenpeace are exploring the possibility of developing a specific model for the tree-hugging crowd. ![]()
Saffer you need to open this up to include Cabrinha's in power lines so the Altona crew can contribute.
