Hey Guys,
For a 90kg rider on a surfboard, which size kite would complement a 7m? A 11m or 9m, would a 11m be to slow but have better coverage or would a 9m range overlap to much over the 7m and not give enough power below 16knots? Is there that much speed/turnability difference between 9 and 11 ( for the same model kites or similar types of kites).
In reckon my bottom end on my 7m is around 20-22 knots and my 9m is around 16knots but find down the line riding a bit difficult to keep the kite responsive.
The alternative is to change the board to cover the low wind range.
What's your experience / thoughts?
Cheers
Rich
Look, you're an experienced kiter. Noone else can answer that question for you. How desperate are you to get out earlier? How much do you tend to move the kite around on a wave? 2m2 is a nice gap in the smaller sizes but not a must. I'm 75kg & have some great sessions on my 13m, but definately the smaller kite you can get away with the better. A flat rockered wide tailed board is certainly a great benefit in the light stuff (as long as the swell's not too big)
cheers
