My Comments:Currently using a Cabrinha 12 Switch Blade 08 but not sure if should buy a different brand for next kite ?
Depends what style you ride, there will be a heap of new kites out soon so read some reviews demo some kites and get the one you like. You could keep the 12m and get a 8/9m so yo would have better wind range. Then latter when the Switchy is worn out completely upgrade to something new.
If you are after a one kite quiver a 12m may not be your best choice depending on where you live how much you weigh and what type and size of board you are ridding. If you can fill in the blanks you should get some good advice.![]()
Ok now the gibberish in the title is gone! ![]()
Which is possible the only positive outcome of this thread..
On topic: For sure buy a different brand than Cabrinha, their kites suck.
I would either go for a Slingshot Fuel or Flysurfer Speed, it's all the same sh!t.
But seriously, I assume you are generally after some beginner friendly bowkite with decent depower..
Most kites in the last 2 to 3 years are good including the kite you have, it should still be reasonable - but nothing beats the feel of having a new kite.
I have tried a few different brands. These days I use Griffin Argo and am now loyal to Griffin due to good service back up from the Australian designer and kite performance.
So key would be select a kite to suit your stage of development, use and Australian back up/support.
Most kites are good on flat water however only a few excel in surf - Griffin Argo works for me.
I would also recommend the griffin argo, the 10m is one of the best all round kites i have ever ridden, try to get a demo on one you wont regret it.
U cant go past North Rebel for allround good and safe as bar or Cabrinha Switchblade for primo kite!
I'm with Turtle on this one. Here are a few pointers on trying out new kites-
-Approach each kite with an open mind.
- Kites with a different style to your current ride will take some time to adjust to so don't write them off too early.
-Make sure you take the conditions into consideration, naturally you will like a kite more in it's targeted wind range.
- Look past the Hype and marketing and check the quality of the materials etc..
Good luck,
Jason
Yeh Briskites are right.
Everyone will back their own kite brand. Otherwise they wouldn't have bought that kite in the first place.
My 5 cents? Try Griffin's they alway blow me away how good they are. Slingy are tried and trusted too. But just demo a heap of kites. You may not like the kites I like.
If you can find a kite that flies with no wind, Self launches and lands itself, Blows itself up and gets you a beer after your session, Then you have found the perfect kite. I dont think they have developed one like that yet so Just demo them all with an open mind like most people have said.![]()
More of the same. Go to your local kite shop demo days or call in and ask for some advise. If you are riding Cab's you will be used to a certain style of riding, so like Briskites said, have an open mind. At the end of the day, your level of riding, the conditions you mostly kite in & what your goals for progression over the coming season are will have a lot to do with best kite choice. Your shop should be able to talk you through a few recommended options. Then demo them & make your own choice from there, be wary of testing too many kites, your mind will boggle.
I ride Vegas & love it, but George rides F One Bandits. We all have different styles & likes with kites so narrow the search down & then test them.
Have Fun!

Hey Glenn m,
As soon as we get some wind back again, you are welcome to come and demo any of the kites we sell. Being setup on the beach you can demo three or four kites in the one afternoon which makes life a bit easier.
Bring on the new season and some warm winds!
Cheers,
KH
Hey Glenn as others here have said don't be afraid to try something different, I am constantly amazed that people stick to the same brand of kite year after year, I have been on a different brand every year and I don't see this season being any different, despite the fact that I love the kites I was flying last season and am still currently flying.
Sometimes it takes a while to adjust to a different kite but you never know when you might just find something that suits straight up.
Keep an open mind and take up an offer like KH's to demo, demo, demo.
Cheers tightlines sound good i have been happy with cabrinha but yer bit keen to see what else their is to offer.
