Rider: 80kg, Level intermediate
Style: Freestyle and to a lesser extent Surf in light to medium wind and good waves
Weather: I want to be on the water as often as possible so wind range is very important to me.

Don't know if filling that bit out helps but..

I loved 08 waroos (9m and 13m). I just now bought and love 09 waroos (9m and 13m). I love boosting big and beginner/ intermediate tricks. I like unhooked tricks but have only really just started trying handle passes. I really spend most of my time doing hooked in boosts and tricks in above 16 knots and then switching to a strapless surfboard for waves in sub 16 knots.

I haven't ridden a nemi at all of any vintage but am keen for something that gets me going as early as (or earlier than) my 13 09 waroo. And would prefer a little faster. I don't want a park and ride wake style pull or an on off c kite type pull. Somewhere in between like an all rounder seems to suit me best.

Is there a kite that is a little faster than 13m waroo that can get me going just as early or earlier? does the nemesis fit into the picture the way Best website says? Does any shop have one I can Demo. Shops closest too me don't stock them and my mates don't have nemi's.

Any/ all help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Joe. I'm at Cabarita beach Bogangar. (just near nsw qld border) I mostly want to see if a Nemesis suits me now i've progressed a bit. 09 or 2010. Just don't know anyone who has them. Cheers for your reply. Are you suggesting that I'd probably prefer the new waroo over the nemesis or just talking about what you are getting in first?

Anyone else got an opinion/ experience or a nemesis I can try...

Cheers. Greg.

PS anyone know what happened to that thing started by a shop where you could pay not much more than postage and go on a list and demos kites were posted around??

I cant remember which shop..

Surf FX on the Goldy have the full range of Best gear in store. They have the new 2010 demos and will have the new Waroo next week. This would be your best bet.

cheers. yeah, my closest shop can get them but doesn't have demos, next closest is paul and ang who do naish and north then there was gene who shut down and CJ who later shut down and so a trip up to surf fx sounds like the way to go.
Thanks for the help.

HI Smedg
Hoping to have my demo WARROOS soon but have used the NEMI 10 quite a bit, great in strong wind but found the 09 11 WARROO better in light wind. If your after more power get a ride on a KAHOONA .
Hope this helps

Thanks, that's helpful info on the waroo v nemesis.

As for the kahoona...

Really?? I wouldn't have picked that from Best website info which claims the 09 13m waroo wind range is from 9 knots and the kahoona 13.5 m wind range is from 10 knots. the very last thing I want is a bigger kite that doesn't get me going as early.. Ideally im after something smaller and faster with enough pull to get me going when a 13m waroo does.

I'm not after park and ride pull nessecarially. More than happy to work the thing, just want to get on the plane as early with a faster kite if possible. I need to get some demos lined up. always knew i needed to but love the helpful advice pointing me towards which kites to demo.

Cheers.

smedgy, just call surf fx for a demo on the goldy. but don't speak to jon (he's a vvanker) or guy (he's a nutritionalist) just ask to speak to michael or ian or if they aren't available ask for jon or guy.

I just got an 11m - took if for a quick ride yesterday but wasn't really powered enough to have an opinion... I also rode it on an Ozone bar as the Best one hasn't arrived yet...

Seabreeze says 12 gusting 13 knots for the time I was out (on a surfboard and light wind twintip)

It looks very delta like in the pictures etc, but it's not... It's more of a mid-high aspect (for a delta) SLE kite with pointy wingtips and a very c-like curve on the LE...

Should be a fun kite when powered - In light conditions I think i'd prefer something with a few less features to save weight - This things got the twister tech, TE battens, 5 struts, one pump system, an extra deflate valve on the wingtip, stainless rings everwhere and thick struts (but a thin LE)

08 nemesis is what you should be looking at great low end and a great high end but don't get the EZ-internal pump.

LOL Singshot Octane or RPM? Both are nicer than the Waroo but i'm just interested in which you flew...

that is one ugly kite. ewgh! their graphics person would perhaps do better working on the aussie uniforms for the next olympics opening ceremony.

what's with the "scuff pads" on the leading edge? as though every stick, rock and other object on the beach will be well enough behaved to only hit the pads and never the 90% of space between them. surely the leading edge, being uniformly curved, should be uniformly reinforced?

smedg, i'm curious, why the attachment to best? rhys sells them and the best he can say about them is "Should be a fun kite when powered - In light conditions I think i'd prefer something with a few less features to save weight."

ok, hating post over. and if there are answers to my questions i'd be happy to know.

Yeah, um. I'm getting used to my 09's now. just had a sick session on my 9. have been trying other kites. used to waroos i guess and I like the type of pull and bar pressure. I love and prefer the idsx slightly but got my pair of 09's for a bargain and only really got them 'cause they were a bargain. 08's were still in top shape. Nemesis turns out to be not at all what i'm after, so i'm trying other kites but pretty happy with my waroos for a while.

Hey djdojo, is there another kite in the industry that can help explain what you mean here. The scuff pads are positioned on the possible high points of contact. this isnt to protect against sticks as such, but for abbrasion caused when sliding along the beach etc. when relaunching or self launching.

Similar here..

It is definately different and not as loud as last years design but it looks great when flying.

The new kite due out In January is supposed to compensate any customers that have doubt on the Waroo 2010, looking forward to more info
