Got to fly one today in marginal winds. This kite is fast. Even in light winds it pulls through kiteloops with no stall. The depower system is much smaller than the 07 system and the iron heart chicken loop release is the same. This is not a "C" kite, it flys in-between last years rebel and rhino in terms of low end power but is as fast as the rebel. The depower is massive, twice as much as last years fuel imo. Could be used in the waves as it turns like a demon.
there have been some issues overseas with the 08' iron heart system and am interested to know more...
Overall VERY impressed.
Would be a fantastic kite for someone who has riden Bows for a while but want something faster, loops well and is super responsive

Yep saw the video, North look like they got it right with the 08 Vegas , the kite looks really nice.

I think its going to be a big year for North. With the iron heart it seems to be relaesing under pressure I know there is a regulation where it must release under so much pressure to prevent accidents.

I know my Naish quick release has done it once when I got smashed by a wave and I was quiet relieved it did.

Maybe someone from North can explain this better.

The way I understand it is the French(mainly) have a design rule the requires the release to operate with a maximum force of 7kg.
(I know kg is not a force unit)

This has been in effect for some years now, so I wouldn't assign any problems to that factor.

Dan,

Mate had a wicked session on the 12 today at MATTO's - Kite Friken Rocks..... getting it dialed and the harder you fly it the more it rewards you.

Go the Reb , had to work today but the crew got out at Wanda today River was carving up the waves on his Cult and Big Kev was ripping hard on his new Rebel and Marco was cutting loose on the torch.

Cant wait for the next descent SE to hit Matto,s and the Coast trip is looking good, next descent forecast were all heading down.Get your brownie points for that one its going to be one big weekend the Lo is pumped , we should see him with some new Rebels soon or he could be jumping ship to the Naish camp.

Bring on the downwinders, Cults and Rebels will rule the waves.

Great to hear your enjoying the new kites.

Tried it again, this time fully powered up. Noticed the kite was in slow mode last time so we changed it to rabbit made. Sooo fast. I'd recommend using fast mode in light winds, slow mode in powered up conditions, Norths in the past have just been set it to your favourite depending on size and fly it. This seems more responsive to tuning than the 06-07. ( i'm finding many of the 08' kites are more grunty so are more sensitve to oversheeting, setting and tuning). C kite feel when boosting, boosts more consistently than the 07' rebel and is faster than the 07' rhino ( but not as grunty. overall a high performance freestyle kite that is slightly more forgiving than the 07 fuel.
BTW the depower cleat on the 08' bars is a vast improvement
