Got some great feedack from my last post, thanks guys.
Now I have to decide on which one!
I've flown the NEW kites range except for the 7m and I have flown the 9 & 7 OZONE Sport II 2008.
My options NEW 7 or 2007 Ozone Instinct Sport 7
Both are 5 line and thats the only comparison I have between them.![]()
How different is the 2007 Sport I to the 2008 Sport II?
And is there anybody who has flown the NEW & Sport I and can give me a comparison?
I am 88kg and aim to use the kite for surfing or High winds.
I need some honest answers please![]()
Cheers
I tried the 9m New at kitestock along with the 11m Sport II
Both very nice kites.
I liked the New kite for raw power, simple straight forward set up, reasonably stable kite and good value for money.
I liked the sport for a very well thought out kite and bar, bullet proof, super low bar pressure, good kite feedback through the bar, fast tight turns and super super stability.
If it was me i would go the extra $$ and get Ozone. But demo both if you can as what i might like could be different to what you may like.
Also consider how often your going to use a 7. If its only like 5 or 6 times a year then cost will play a big part, in that case perhaps something second hand might be better.
Also don't go past the switchblade 3 8m. Now that is an awesome kite. Bridled but still insane and you would probably get a lot more use from it as it has such a huge wind range.
Hi richswing,
The 2007 Sport 7m is a little more grunty in the turns than the 2008. The 2008 is a little smoother I guess you'd put it down to, although both are awesome to fly.
The Instinct Sport loops much harder than the Sport II. Other than that, both are fast, both have same bottom end and same top end, both are quite stable and both relaunch well. The Sport is a fantastic kite, it was the kite that hooked us on Ozone in the first place when we first rode it.
We have just one ex-demo 7m Sport (about 6 weeks old) so it's in good nick.
I can't give you an answer on the comparison between Sport and New as I haven't flown any of the New kites. I'll leave that to someone else.
Give me a call if you want to demo the 7m Sport. 0433 982 696. You should only need around 20 knots to get it going. You and I are the same weight and I can get the 7's going in 20 knots.
I know it's probably way out of your budget, but we have just received our first delivery of 7m Ozone Instinct Edge II's. These should be a weapon for wave shredders. We may even bust one out as a demo!!!!!!![]()
Happy decision making,
Good winds,![]()
The biggest upgrade form the 2007 sport to the 08 is the bar... its just soooooo much better! But yeah i agree with darren in saying they have taken out alot more of the pull in the turns and made a smoother really stable awsome little kite (i prefer the 08 in the waves and the 07 in the mental loops).
Definately demo either of the 2 kites and im sure u will love them
Well it seems most of the people who have NEW kites kite more than they chat here,
So I will fill you in.It totally depends what you want.
The 7m is designed light for maximum response. Its like this for a number of reasons.
-Light so smaller riders have a small light weight kite that is effective under 20 knots.
-Massive amounts of depower, for complete kooks novices.
-Super fast snappy response for complete kite loops.
-Light on your arms so it isnt demanding after 7 days of 30 knot winds.
-Digital quick across the wind window so you can smack the lip when ever you like.
-Only 3 struts to keep it light so it has excellent 'drift' while wave riding.
-More C shape so it retains laminar airflow over the top sail while the kite is deep in the wind window.
-Wide wing tips for better glide while drifting also relaunches easily when sitting on its back U shape down wind.
-Only 2 5th line connections so the kite easily turns to catch air in its wing tip from the U 5th line position.
-A safety system that flags from suicide leash, effective in extreme winds.
-Soft bar ends and soft edged bar parts so you dont bust your hands while hanging on to massive unhooked kite loops.
I can't comment on the 7m ozone, I have tried a 10 or 11 or something and it was mega powerful for it size.
I have tried a 7m Rev. Its relaunch from safety is back snapping crazy in strong wind. It is slow in flying speed and has far more power with the bar out, when top ending compared to a 7m O.S. NEW.
Come up to Gero and demo all the sizes over easter, the wind is still here and swell season is slowly picking up. We'll be out at Coronation beach during the long weekend with beer. ![]()
ozone $1700
new $1350
The 7m is fast and reliable in the surf, it also flys really well with out much pressure on the lines as in it still turns while drifting backwards as you travel down the line once your used to it.
