The RAZOR - from Ocean Rodeo.
The Razor is the SLE/C hybrid kite of choice for those who are looking for advanced freeriding, unhooking, wakestyle, boosting or even playing about on the waves. It's a 4 strut kite which offers buckets loads of power due to having no centre strut. This results in more power per M2 of canopy area.
The advanced versatility of the Razor has made it the most popular in the Ocean Rodeo range. The Razor is equipped with state of the art FST wingtip technology which allows the kite to fly through a huge wind range, makes relaunch easier and increases turning speed to give us a snappy and quick response. The new Razor is improved by having a small refined bridle for even more stability in all wind conditions.
Ocean Rodeo have seriously thought outside the box by equipping the Razor with their much talked about 'Venturi Technology'. 'Venturi Technology' allows the kite to run smooth in strong gusty winds, makes the kite more forgiving in all conditions, increases boost and hangtime and allows the more advanced rider to unhook without having to rely on depowering the kite first.
Any bar supplied from Ocean Rodeo will be suitable for the Razor - Fusion Freeride or Freestyle - all of which are all equipped with the "Direct Depower system"
Sizes 7, 8, 10, 12
Personal Experience
My kite of choice at ??kgs is the Ocean Rodeo Razor in sizes 8M, 10M and 12M. I used the 2012 Razors and I have now updated to the 2013 equipment. When I decided to fly the Razors I studied up on the "RST System, Direct Depower and Venturi Technology" and put it to the test. I was on the 10M from as little as 12 kts and was able to hold it down until 25 kts. This was a wind range I had never experienced before and one that not many kites would deliver safely. This is the result of Ocean Rodeos development of the "RST System, Direct Depower and Venturi Technology".
I am genuinely honest with my feed back to the Ocean Rodeo crew and the kiting public. I have totally free choice of what I ride for them once the R&D testing is completed.
For me the Razor does it all.
Well worth trying before you decide on anything else in that league.
Based on your reveiw I just feel like going to buy one. 10/10 you say.. Nice
With terms such as 'venturi technology' 'FST wingtips' I feel that the term PIMP may be used here. You forgot 12 turns like a 6......
Team riders must pimp on forums, it's part of the deal. I have it in writing from an unamed distributor which I eventually refused to do.
If you want your cheap kites then you gotta get your pimp on.
This is funny I'm following the rpm trail of negativity here. Lol.
I just love pimping. Have you got weak sales resistance? Is that why you won't walk into gay bars. Try it rpm you might just like it. Lol.
No pimping here I don't think... Obviously they are just the best kites out there... No room for improvement...
I just wanna know if they fly directly upwind?![]()
Always the negative knockers but in this case (and the other Rodeo Clown posts) there is more BS from the knockers than the pimp - by a long shot.
I thought the Clowns 'reports' (rather than reviews) were pretty low key for a self confessed 'pimp' (who some were on the ball enough to recognise as such???)
Pretty much reported on the style of the kite, a Who-Is-It-For breakdown, a few key features which Ocean Rodeo consider unique and just a very brief summary of his opinion.
Where is the BS ?
Gotta admit Im sceptical about the low & high end figures on the 10M but apart from that its all pretty much just fair reporting.
And for the truly clever detective work by Hybrid Z [}:)]
I asked the clown about this & it was simply that he didnt know what 13 Stone is in Kgs & forgot to fill it in when he found out. Got it right in the heading where he declares his 'team rider' status.
But all said & done we all take team riders reviews with a grain or 2 of sand. (thats why Laurie likes them to declare themselves)
So Id love as many as possible every day kiters to grab one for a demo & give us all an unbiased review.
send one to the east coast and me and the local riders will ride and review.
best way to get people on your gear and get people talking about the kite. imo.![]()
Rider: 80kg, freeride and basic freestyle
I have been riding Ocean Rodeo for a couple of years now, been very happy with them.
I started out with a 2010 9m rise and now have 2012 10m razor/7m rise. (board is 135 CB Tempo).
The Razor has heaps of grunt; i actualy wish i got the 9m insted although i dont need a bigger kite.
I was recently out with a couple of similar size guys on 13m airush razors and one on a 12m C4 with dropping wind. As the wind dropped out we all had to come in at the same time (13-14 knots i think)
I have also been very comfortable in the early 20's although unhooking etc is not so comfortable.
Nice steady pull through the turn, really nice when ya do a long carving transition.
With jumps it yanks you off the water and still has a soft landing.
If you are looking for a nice cruisy kite or something forgiving to practice freestyle then it probly is not the best kite for you.
If you do a bit of everything and like to be powered up then the razor is well worth a look.
Puppet it is nice to see someone take up the ocean rodeo dealership again in Aus (although i was getting a bloody good deal direct from OR in canada :-p )
