The bar is out now. It comes with any kite ordered from Ozone.

Contact your local dealer.

Spend sunday flying a kite with the new bar/qr. Here's what I thought of the qr. Lets face it the bar is the same.

Pros:
released real easy. Easier than the old unit, which I guess makes it better as a safety device
easy to lay your hand on.
flag safety on the inside is good. It ment you can untist lines.

Cons,
Swivel though easy to rotate static was difficult to rotate under load.
Resetting the release is a little fiddly and difficult to do if your kite is already flying.
Though it releases easy with sand in it. It does not reset easily with sand in the qr.
Its a bulky unit.

Overall I like it. But not so much that I am going to upgrade my bars/QR's. I'll stick with the old until they are worn out.

Hey plummett talk on the street is ozone have bred some more freeride back into their 2014 c4 this year! Thought you'd be happy about that.

To be honest i'm not really interested in the c4 any more. I want to get back to my grass roots of why I started kiting. Air time, Gliiiiiiide.

C4 sucks arrse for glide. I'll be either replacing it with a edge or something outside the ozone range.

Fair enough, but I can't over how big my bro goes on his 2011 8m C4. Pow!

Air time and glide....well really you needn't look any further surely.

Jeez I thought Ozone listens to its customers... Oh i guess people will just have to buy an up to date bar from another company if they want the latest tecnology...

Alternately if you cut n shape n glue a few pieces of your old wetsuit - add some velcro and youll have made a 'bar bra' for the ends :) Red will look sexier ;)

lets face it anything jumps well in 8m weather. But yes C4 has Pow! and the top end of its range. I can get pow from my 10m 23+ knots. Bellow that its just ho/hum jumping.

True, but we weren't in that crazy conditions actually. It was on downwinders. Anyhow....crew over here as getting on the new Cat, more smoother and refined in power delivery... I will try and get on it this Sunday....and Jason commented on how big he went, surprised him. We will see.

Ozone have thrown down some big changes in the last few years so lets see what 2014 brings.

My C4 still looks in new condition so it wont be replaced for a while.

On a slightly weird note. I was kite buggying in sand dunes all weekend primarily on my c4 and dang its awesome for buggy dune riding?@!!

480 kg pirateline dyneema kitelines on an edge 7 without the aramid bridles, in 30knts, makes you a human cannon

I was referring to the edge when I said airtime and glide I'm sure you realise not the C4...If that is what you want and you love ozones, as I said ,why would you need to look any further really.

Hey how hard is it to convert a race bar? There are a few ozone race bars flying around for sale default??

Got a new 11m edge a few weeks ago, made to order which took a while, but didn't get the new bar ?

Must have been before the changeover to the new bar, and remember the Edge is still a 2013 model, the new version will not be released until well into 2014. Did your kite come with the new strut to LE connectors, they are black and angled so that the one pump tube sits close to the strut/LE.
Good news is that the new push away C-Loop will be available from Ozone dealers within the next week or so, I think its going to sell for around $69 and is quite easy to replace.

Gidday Steve, yep got the new connectors on it, great kite, can live without the new release, just an observation, awesome kite but you'd reckon for the price of the kite ozone would upgrade free, $69 RRP must be about $5-10 factory cost, cheers

yep I recon. give the man a new upgrade QR free of charge. The sell the old qr at cost. Which is probably $25-30AUd. That way the customer is happy and nobody is out of pocket.

New kites should come with the latest gear.

the new QR is alot better . Much easier to reassemble in the water after punching out . Apart from not having soft ends the new bar is ok

I was looking at a bunch of bars the other day. The soft ended bars were so chunky. I think I like the simplicity/combactness of the ozone hard ends

Yeh I tend to agree. But SB riders wouldn't, as they smash their boards with the ends. The liquid force ones are huge!!! So are the cabrinha ones actually to. Chunky mamas.

yeah I don't have to worry about board damage. my boards are stronger than the bars. The bar end will break well before the board fails.

Just got the Ozone Megatron QR unit from West Oz and retro fitted it to my race bar cost $69. It comes with no instruction on how to fit so take plenty of pic's before you start. Its straight forward and will take about an hour by the time you have messed about putting your lines back together. Have used it twice now and its a great improvement over the old unit, sand used to jam the old unit but the new push away has more clearance between its moving parts allowing free movement. The old unit really was poor regarding the swivel under load this area is now very much better IMHO, you can now simply rotate under load and remove twisted centre lines.
