HI guys ,
Looking for a new board . I weigh 94 kgs . Have always liked flatter boards as i usually ride in pretty marginal conditions as they obv get going a little sooner than most . My favourite board for years was the underground flx 135 which a lot of ppl thought was too sml for me but honestly felt like and extenstion of my own body . Naturally i broke it and a brief flirt with the NHP i moved onto a 2011 Youri Zoon brunotti . It has been a great board ex of the straps , feet must come out of them half of every trick i try . Has anybody succesfully worked out how to fix that problem or found an alternative pad/strap combo that fits the board ? Maybe even the 2013 straps ?
Anyway in my quest to try and find another board i tried out the new fone acid which didnt agree with me ... it just has far too much rocker for what im used 2. Also tried the new axis inferno which was good but i think lacked some upwind ability (to be fair wind was rubbish when i tried it ) .... was thinking the 50/50 but im not really a new school guy , torn rotator cuffs dont agree with unhooking .
Anyone got any input/suggestions ? Havent really looked at boards properly for a few years so feel a little out the loop.
Cheers
Ha ha, I am 100kg and still riding my 135 Underground FLX 2010 model! I have bought and sold on a North Jaime, and havent been sold on anything else really.
Stick with what you know works! You could try one of the Axis boards - find out which one is most similar to the FLX, and go demo it.
Good luck big fulla!
EDIT: Maybe the Vanguard? Outline looks similar to the FLX, not sure how the rocker or flex compares though, and its got those meaty spines which would make it behave a little differently
Check out the shinn king George, I've recommended this board to a fair amount of bigger blokes and they've all come back with good reports, very connected feel with smooth ride and when the wind kicks up a great edging board if you've got a bit of weight, a local here has the underground styx, he's approx 115kg, but a bit prone to burying the nose in the wash
Can't comment on the board but I had the same problem with my feet coming out while in the air. I was using basic North straps. I upgraded to North Entity straps and am very happy. They are comfy and easily adjustable. If they will fit on the board you choose grab them.
From all 1st reports it would seem that a great option for big guys out there will be the Shinn Speedball. Small high performance board but reported to be super efficient for light wind &/or big guys who are restricted to low performing light wind door sized boards
Gotta be worth a try before deciding IMO.
