Style: Freeriding, Surf
Weather: 8 -35 knots
6m Ozone Instinct
8m Griffin Chimera
10.5m Griffin Chimera
13m Griffin Chimera
10m Cloud Boardriding Maui 2013
13m Cloud Boardriding Maui 2013
17m Cloud Boardriding Maui 2013
Lightwind board: F-One surf 5.10 strapless 2013
Other winds board: Slice Rootshape (alias Aska board, Spleene Zone twintip style surfboard)

My Comments:

I have been enjoying very very much my Chimeras since a while (after enjoying my previous Griffins) and I would like to know and understand what is the difference between the Chimera and the TRX?
As far as lightwinds are concerned, I prefer the Boardriding Maui Clouds 13m and 17m to the Chimera 13m and the 17m Argo (of which I did not like the bluntness). Very sweet and swift kites (17m Cloud + 5.10 F-One = King of the bay at 9 nts). The 10m Cloud is for travelling tight.

So my question to whom seems concerned is:
What is the difference between the Chimera and the TRX?

Jyvai,
Like you got the 10.5 and the 8m Chimera. 10.5m still going strong after 3 years of steady use and not to much abuse.
The 8m Chimera my favourite kite massive wind range, really good bottom end.
This summer I've returned to the east coast after a few years of heaven on the west coast.
The seabreeze on the west coast generally 16 - 22knts and the east coast 12 - 16knts typically.
Kite with a surfboard.
To get out in "just about anything" I've bought the 2014 TRX 14m (considered by some 14's to big for the surf but I disagree).
The 14m feels good lighter bar pressure, better drift than the chimera 10.5m, it turns about the same and relaunch's probably better than the 10.5.
The depower of the 14m keeps me out after a light wind start and the wind builds for 11 and 12m's being the norm.
Lately I've been using only the 14m or the 8m and changing surfboards (volume) with wind strength increases.
Bar and lines remain pretty much the same, depower is above the bar. Never liked the feel of the griffin lines, but they've never broken.
Kite build and materials good as the chimera the 14m feels lighter when inflated than the 10.5 but that could be age.
No pulleys on the TRX.
For me a hack who wants to surf waves in a seabreeze without spending lots of dollars Griffin kites are perfect.
