Number 6. What is that for ?

Number 16. To set the safty on, but why is there a bungee cord thingi sitting there before the red handle. Its about 30cm long and will be dangling in the way.

Cheers

Turmere,

No. 6 is what they call an "Oh ****" handle. Basically there is one either side of your bar. If you grab hold and let go of the bar altogether (i.e. not hooked to your harness) the kite will flag off of this line, meaning it will depower and fall out of the sky. You won't be able to relaunch if you pull this. It is basically if everything goes pear shaped and you want to kill the power. It is not necessary with the Rev however if you connect your leash to the attachment point at, funnily enough, No. 16.

Connect your leash to the metal ring at 16 in the diagram, not the red handle. Basically if again you find yourself in trouble let go of the bar. Your leash will stay attached and the kite will fall out of the sky. This way you can recover your bar and relaunch after feeding the line back until all lines have equal tension once again. The elasticised piece of line I believe is so the connection doesn't interfere with the trim of the kite. As the attachment point acts like a 5th line but is in fact attached to one of your front lines on the kite. It will not get in your way as when the kite is flying and all lines are under tension the red handle etc. is positioned as it shows in the diagram to which you are referring.

You've chosen a good kite with very good safety and relaunch. Hope this helps and enjoy.

I have a few questions about ths bar also.
Does anyone else find that their safety leash tends to wrap around the centre rope for no reason. I just have to pull it and it untwists but it is a bit annoying. And does anyone else find it really difficult to pull on the depower rope whilst on the fly?

I wonder if the Rev will work with a different bar ie Airush bar. Or at the least the chicken loop from airush.
Could you take off the safety line and the cleat from the centre rope and take off the chicken loop and replace like the airush set up?
I cant see why this would work.
I like the airush safety trigger and the cleat it has, but i like the thick lines of the rev and the oh s**t handles which i use to hot launch the kite.
Thoughts anyone?

Your safety leash will twist when you do loops or rolls. Just unclip it, untwist and reclip. Or alternatively, loop the kite or do rolls in opposite directions to untwist the centre lines.

When pulling the depower line, sheet the bar out as you pull the line. This makes it a bit easier. But yeh, mine is a little hard.

Yesterday I pulled the quick release on my 13 rev and were pissed off because the kite didnt completely flag out. I pulled in the safety line, wound it to the bar, reset the quick release and then let the safety line feed through the bar. During this whole time the kite was looping, crashing, and flapping aroung, giving me the sh!ts.

Kite relaunched ok and nothing got tangled.

My 9m rev flagged out fine when i tried it. Hopefully the 13 works better next time I need to pull the pin.

Ok if your trying to pull the rope through the cleat remember to sheet out as you do it will make it much easier.
If your pulling the bar and the rope down at the same time your fighting it.
The leash will twist as it is because your front lines rotate as well. If you simply unhook the bungie will drop out and untangle hook back in all good. alternative like one man already said learn to do all your tricks both ways. As it also makes your line last longer..
have fun :-)
