The V3 is different in a few aspects. The tips are wider than the V2, still a delta shape but more of a kick in the leading edge through the tips. The kites leading edge material is beefed up. The trailing edge is beefed up. Nigel Cassidy tests all the Best range in Gero and sets his pump to 9.5psi I go 10. None of the Nipple attachments are loose like previous models, and the tips do not flutter.
For the waves, I liked the V2 in onshore conditions, but you still had to move it around in SWers. The V3 sits there with just enough static pull down the line to make sections. Kiteloop the V3 and I hope you are far enough out the back....
Agreed, but if you don't want flutter you don't need to have a kite with no centre strut - try the rebel (but $).
The kahoona from me experience on the v2 (and i had plenty) is they do flutter at the top quarter of their range but not sure of the v3. But overall, stability, wind range, grunt and in the price range i concur with dave, go the kahoona.
sorry you shouldn't have to farq around with pigtails etc, to me their is an inbuilt design flaw - but then again I'm sure the SG riders who have had hours of awesome kiting would disagree - i'd just be wary myself that's all.
[I would like to take your word for it, because I haven't flown the V3, the the overall shape and concept is the overall shape and concept - I can't see how some reinforcement and slightly wider tips could rectify the flutter the to degree I would expect, but I am probably talking out my assh as usual. Still have my doubts dave.]
By the time you all decide what the best kite for him is he will prob be ready for his second kite.
