Currently fly all fuels and am looking to change to a hybrid type thingy.
Into my wake stuff and wave riding but like boosting too. I like a lot of grunt in kite. What do you think between getting a quiver of links or switchblades.
If money was not an issue, which ones would you get????

If you want a kite the inverts and not easy to launch, go for the Link if you want a kite that is stable, easy to launch and great for unhooking then the switchblade is the way forward. for a deal on a quiver call the guys at Glascraft on 0882902200, i'm sure they'll do a deal.

I've been flying a 12mtr demo, thanks to Glen at XSHORE.
This kite is amazing, it,s everything I want in a kite.
The 5th element bar is simple and effective, no bridles or pulleys
to worry about. Excellent power and depower, easy relaunch, doesn't invert. The kite has a great wind range 12-30+ knots, I'm
65kg. If you like boosting you will love this, bar in and up you go,
hold the bar in and hang. If you are scared of heights don't try this.

Don't go the link if your into wakestyle. It's a more surfstyle kind of kite. You could do it, but I dunno how well it will preform unhooked. Depends if your talking switchblade 1 or 2, switchblade 2 looks really nice. Hvan't flown one, but meant to be really good for unhooked riding ect.

in my opinion;
the switchblade 2 has heaps of bottom end but gets overpowered early for its size. i was getting caned on the 10m once it got over 23/24 knots; not what you expect for a 10m bow kite (i am about 80kg). but it flew upwind and powered in 15 knots like a 14 or 15m C kite.
unhooking is really smooth and forgiving, the kite is stable but the chicken loop is a bastard to get back into sometimes.
have swapped my 10 for an 8, yet to get it back
i have flown the 9m link once and found that it jellyfished badly and lost power and shape in gusts. its almost like they made it too flat. hard to relaunch even when powered. it turns really smoothly though and bar pressure is light.
i dont know if it had the updated bridle or not.
keahi this 14 year old had a 12m switchblade in 26 knots, he's probably about 45kg.
I,m not sure about the switch blade 2 as i havent tried one but hear good things about em.
I did have a decent demo on a 12 mtr SS Link a couple weeks ago when on the same day i was flying my 16 mtr SS Turbo Diesel.
and have to say i was well impressed. I had previously flown the 12 mtr SS Link in lower wind conditions and hated it.
my realisation was that the SS Link is an excelent kite, fast turning heaps of grunt light on the bar good for one handed toe side. I was using it in 5 line setup.
But it doesnt have the bottom end of a bow Bow kite, Hey its not a bow kite so i dont expect it to behave in the same way.
I,m mainly interested kiting in the surf and have to say the Link is an excelent kite for the waves. I am seriously considering buying Links for my next quiver of kites.
