Can anyone who has ridden both these kites give me an idea of the differences between them. I am considering an 8m and would like some advice. Also was wondering if the wind range is similiar when comparing the same size kite. Thanks.
Hi Graf,
Strange kites to be choosing between. The C4 is nothing comparable to the Catalyst.
The C4, is a fast turning, C shaped kite which powers through the turns pushes to Neutral when loaded hard and jumps like a C. The Catalyst is light, has little power in turns, jumps like a hybrid/SLE and sits a little deeper in the window (not by much).
Catalsy suits beginner to upper end of Intermediate freeriders and all levels of surf riders. The C4 is is an intermediate to expert level kite for freeriders and freestylers.
Totally different feel in both kites which do totally different jobs. Rather than trying to decide which kite is best, why not tell us what style you ride and what properties you want in a kite, then we can tell you which would be better suited.
Cheers,

DM, Thanks for the info. I ride a twin tip in small surf currently using a 8m catalyst 2010. I am happy with current kite but would like to update ( get new toy) and would like a kite that turns quick and jumps high. I have been kiting 4 yrs and am wondering if C4 might be a bit more of an 'exciting' kite to use for twin tip surfing and jumping. Thanks.
Hi Graf,
In that case, yes, a C4 would be a more exciting kite to use for sure, it will also provide a better power through the turns where the Catalyst doesnt. The C4 is quick and if driven hard, produces terrific results. If on a surfboard and you expect to park and ride, I think a Cat would be better.
Cheers,
DM
Hey Graf,
I have an 8m C4 and the last few 20-25kn days I would put down as good as the best kiting days I have ever had. It really is a fast. smooth and exciting kite to ride.
I've tried the 8m Cat too and it's a great kite and if I were to only ride a surfboard I probably would have bought a Cat.
So from what you have said go and demo an 8m C4, you'll love it!
