Looking for advice on why I'm having trouble with my Ozone C4 2102 12m, which seems very unstable compared to my 17m 2013 Ozone edge, which is absolutely great to fly. Although I am say beginner to intermediate level, I kitesurf predominately at Narrabeen and last sunday had one of my best days on the 17m which was high teens NE in arvo.
'However yesterday wind was up and took out the 12m C4 and like prior times it was so unstable in comparison.
Rigging is on centre on the backline attachment points. Should I change bar pressure? or shorten lines at bar connectors?
Any advice welcome
This should be in the Kitesurfing forum, but needless to say you need to adjust your lines. Plenty of videos out there. If that does not work, then the issue is with your bridles on the kite end. Again there are videos for that too. PM me if you want to know more.
Now I know why my wife gives me a blank expression when I'm talking tech stuff about windsurfing...I was about to look for a translation app so I could understand the OP's message. ![]()

Thanks for feedback. I know the C4 is good for sharper turns and the 17m Edge is longer softer turns (which is my capabilities at present) so I hope that I can find adjustments on C4 that will reduce this quick 'flighty' action ...the slightest movement boarding up and I'm all over thye place with oncoming waves, whereas I can board up easily on the 17m Edge (long curved wing tips). I'll now look for videos on same

Hmm, but that's how the C4 is meant to act - quick and sharp depending on size. Are you sure you have the right kite for the right type of kiting?
1st the edge compared to a c4 is completely different, this is where I'd say the problem might be, are you using different bars? The knot settings under the float are for tuning line lengths, so check that aswell, the ozones generally come out of the factory on the middle setting, check this first, if you don't know how to line tune I can run through it with you ,
2012 12m C4 is an awesome kite. If you're still a beginner set the bridle attachment points in the middle of the leading edge to the knots closest to the leading edge (so there are a couple of inches of rope dangling free) - this will give you more depower. Other than that, stock settings should be fine. I ran my 12 on the lightest bar pressure setting (where rear lines attach to kite) but as a beginner you probably want the extra feedback provided by the middle setting.
The only other adjustment is of the rear line lengths under the floats. I ran mine on the factory settings (middle knot) and this was fine. Ozone lines do not stretch, but in case there is some variance in length, get an experienced kiter to give it a fly and they'll tell you in an instant whether you need to adjust rear line length.
Stick with it and it will reward you in a way that the Edges cannot. The C4 will teach you real kite flying skill - enjoy!
Hell yeah what djdojo said !! The c4 is awesome , flys upwind , boosts rocket like , unhooks n pops dangle style with me lol, 2 bridle positions make a massive difference , but the bit I like are the loops , too easy ! Loving my new 10m !! Thanks Kitepower , perfect match for the 8m thanks In the loop xxoo need that 12m from surffx now lol oh dear
Ps how big is the c4 bar ek4fun ?
Hi, I also fly a 2012 12m C4, it is indeed an awesome machine, as with djdodo I'm on the rear backline setting with factory rear line lengths.
I've never had any issues with it being "flighty" in fact it is quite stable when slack-lined and/or offloaded. As mentioned though it can and will turn exceptionally when needed.
Not dissing your skills but I'd suggest keeping your hand(s) right in the centre of the bar with minimal inputs... Cheers

Maybe the lighter guys or less aggressive riders won't have line stretch, but ozone lines do stretch also bridles, nothing major but enough to effect the kites flight,so definatly worth checking,if beyond adjustment on rear settings a pigtail adjustment can be done at the bridle to open or close the face of the kite to the wind
Im light but have noticed it . Wasn't sure if kite or lines . but now after new kite on old lines , its the kite\bridle .
I favour one side , and its very usable still but will check the bridle;-] Thanks SB crew
Have access to the 2011 C4 bridle lengths available and i'm fairly certain the 2011 and 2012 C4 were the same kite apart from graphics. Just double checking that first.
^^^Dunno about bridles but the 2012s were definitely different canopies to 2011.
Here's my review from back in the day - www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/Review/2012-Ozone-C4-12m-and-9m/
The old 500kg front lines (up to 2011/12?) would need a 200kg gorilla to stretch them. I'm 80kg and have never had measurable stretch on Ozone lines.
Yep, not the same, sorry.
Bring the kite and bar into Kitepower if are near by and haven't sorted the issue yet.
