75kgs, riding for 3 years, freestyle/wakestyle, loops
Fly switchblades 10m and 7m
WHat quiver should I be looking at? Want to kite from say 15knots to 35ish knots (standard range i guess)
Thinking 11m and 7m? Or should I opt for an 8m instead
Does the 11m still loop and catch or too slow?
Will be demoing shortly...
p.s any input forked? ![]()
eeezeee, my new 12m and 9m should be arriving today. if the forecast NW happens tomorrow i'll be at brighton and you're welcome to have a spin. (look out for the bright red c4)
Me 75kgs, riding for 4 years
Have had 2010 switchblades 12m and 9m, they are definitely more grunty than the C4.
I bought 11m and 8m 2011 C4's.
Wind range on a TT 14kn to "I dont know yet" as haven't had any nucing wind this summer.
I'd go 11/8 over 10/7
i have a 2011 C4 2 kite quiver, 8 and an 11, get a great wind range, from these 2 kites, if your a little bigger maybe a 9 + 12,
the 11m meter will loop and catch u no worries at all plenty of speed ![]()
No need for 7 unless you ride a surfboard lots... 8m can be held up to stupid winds - i've seen 39-40knots on the 2011 8m...
I change my mind :) 7m for those winter winds of 30+ knots... the 8m in 40 was NOT the most fun, i just said i've seen it done lol [}:)]
I love the 9. ![]()
I still have the 2010 9m too, couldn't bring myself to let it go.
I think 11 and 8 if you want to replace your switchblades.
9 is hands down best size.
and rhys i got to call bull**** on your 40knt claims.. a consisten 39-40 = gusts near 50 = you'd be on a 6 at least.
Ok. So finally got a demo after weeks of stuffing around. Now just need wind
3 questions:
Which is the wakestyle setting? Knot closest to LE or furthest away?
A stupid question. But how does the pressure gauge take a reading when there is a oneway valve on the kite????? There's no pressure being put on the gauge as air only travels in the one direction, thus it does nopt give any reading. Am i missing something![]()

How are wake/freestylers riding with the CL? You guys attaching another loop to the mini 5th and connecting your leash to the CL &mini 5th. So you can still flag the kite and ride suicide. make sense?
Thanks in advance
oh, and the quality and detail is PIMP. Like no other manufacturer i've seen![]()
Hey Will, wakestyle is the knot closest to the leading edge. I haven't tried this setting yet due to a knee injury.
I don't use the pressure gauge and haven't analysed it so no help there.
You can't un-spin the front lines if you use the flagging ring for your leash. The stainless leash ring within the chicken loop doesn't attach to a line so if you use it, you're technically suicide but with a lot of depower at the bar.
If you were ever in trouble on the suicide setup, it only takes a second to unclip the leash from the CL ring and clip onto the flagging line, so long as you have your wits about you. If time or circumstances don't permit this and you're really in trouble you release the kite.
And YES the quality and attention to detail are joys to behold!
The one way valve opens when the pressure in the hose is equal to the leading edge so the gauge does read the LE pressure correctly. If your gauge is showing zero then it is probably faulty.
Id like to have a C4 quiver that will allow myself (75 kg w/o gear, experienced 7 years) and my girlfriend (65 kg w/o gear, intermediate) to kite in 14 to 25 knots together and then I would use her kite in higher winds… what would you recommend for quiver sizes for the C4? Would a 12/9 combo or 11/8 be better for our weights?
I dont know of anyone here that owns a 6m C4 and i know i have watched some guys riding 8m C4's in 35 to 40knots but maby i was seeing things?????
What is it with all you blokes that reckon you can't hold these kites in high winds!!!! I ve seen Rhys on my kites in high winds and i weigh 20 kilos more than him. Check out the kitepower photos of Rhys and Josh on my 11m C4 last year in 30 plus knots....and yes they were on it together (at the same time with a 20m ski rope between them) we needed to hold Rhys down on the beach ....yes it might be a bit scary for most but it is done. And yes you are pretty much limited to what you can do. But where we kite there is always plenty of very experienced guys keeping an eye on each other and always there when guys need a bit of help. For the locals who call B/S come to queens next time its really cranking and see for yourself. I am not suggesting it the right thing to do and certainly don't recomend it to others. But there are some amongst who actually enjoy being seriously powered up.
And anyone who knows Rhys and how he kites can confirm he is very able to back up anything he says.
