I have been recommended to switch to Vagas' next season. This was my first season and have been riding swithblade 3's 6m and 10m from 8-37 knots. i am 47kgs and can do s-bends, raley kitellops, F-16 and big kiteloops and learning raleys to blind. I was told to go far sizes 5m (24-40knots), 7m (18-30knots) and 10m (8-21knots) or a 5m 9m (15-23knots) and 12 meter (7-16knots). Does anyone recommend these kites and if so which size combos do you recommend.

thanks

i know your a light weight but i don't think a 12m Vegas would even fly in 7 knots of wind let alone get you up and planing. And even if you could get going on it relaunch would be almost impossible! Remember Vegas' are C kites and therefore have a lot less wind-range than your Switchblades. I'd rekon you could get away with a two kite quiver: 9m and 12m or 7m and 12m. But if you've got the money go for the 5m, 10m and 12m.

P.S why do you think the 10m has a 7knot better low end than the 9m?

5, 10 and 12 is to big a difference between 5 and 10.

i reckon 5,7 and 10 or maybe 5,9 and 12

Hey mate,

Depends what kite you are going to get the most out of, a 5, 7, 10 quiver sounds pretty decent. You want the middle sized kite to beyour most used, so demo them and find out.

Lots of people will recommend a number of different kites, but just demo them and see what you prefer. If you like the unhooked tricks, try the fuel and torch also, (generator as well),

Thanks
Matt

i have tries my freinds Gin Nazca and didnt like it to much, so i probably wouldnt like the fuel or torch, but the vagas apparantly has more depower than the average c-kite and has a feel a but closer to the switchy 3's. i was thinking that a five might be to small by next season if i grow to about 55-57kgs and then a 7-9-12 combo would be better or a 5-9-12 but there might be too big a gap between the 5 and 9 then.

thanks for the feedback

keep it coming

ewan

P.S i will try to demo the vagas in the next few weeks

Your comparing the Gin Nazca to the torch and Vegas? why? Demo a torch and fuel as well... read the reviews... i'm thinking of getting a one I have also heard that the torch has awesome depower for a C kite.

but i think the vagas has more of a hybrid feel and i was saying that the nazca is more like the fuel as it it more of a c-kite. I also didnt really like the nazca because it doesnt have any (i mean any) bar pressure, and it doesnt have much power at all, compard to the switchy's becuase when i am powered and unhooking really well on my 10m switchy 3 i am still quite underpowered on a 12 nazca.

Ewan, I ride the Vegas and have 12/10/9 between two people that covers around 12 to 30kts.

As far as a direct comparison the switchblade 3 in the same size will turn Margionally quicker than the vegas when end for ending the bar, relaunch faster by By around 20 seconds if you ride suicide, If your ride with the factory safety on the SB3 then the vegas will relaunch faster. the sizes and wind power ranges are about the same as the vegas,( anyone who tells you the switchblade3 has a bigger wind range than the vegas is full of it, .... ever since they rode their first bow) ( no offence anyone )
The Hangtime is similar but jumps different..

I would say if you think you got up on a 10 SB3 in 7 kts, you will get up on a 10 vegas in the same conditions, For your weight ( getting heavier I presume ) , go with a 12 for light winds up to 15kts, then a 9 above, I would easily suggest the 10 / 8 combo if you don't crack 60kgs, and don't mind a bottom end around 12kts depending on what you are doing.( if you think the SB3 10 is too small, go the 12/9. As the wind picks up I ride on the front ( slow ) setting ( or if trying new unhooked stuff) with the back lines, and fast if the kite is at it's bottom range

I don’t know what has the bigger windrange, but when I was demoing the 10 meter Vegas (which subsequently the kite I bought) and the 8 meter sb3 I felt on the day the sb3 was equally if not slightly more powered than the 10m Vegas, of course this could have been due to a number of factors, more bar pressure on the sb3 might have left the impression it was more powered, smaller kite = lighter flying further foreword also makes a diff, and besides was only a brief ride on both kites on the day.

I preferred the Vegas way more than the sb3. Maybe it does have the same wind range, but low end better on sb3 at expense of top end? I guess it comes down to the unhook factor to wind range usage too.
