Just Wondering if anyone has ridden the Naish Fly and Compared it to the Ozone Zephyr.
I have a zephyr (secondhand) and it is great but any thoughts on the Naish would be good. I know it say turns like a 12 with the power of a 17 but lets get a real review.
hey dude, ive flown both kites and in all honesty, the Naish is a much more fun kite to fly, its not made to be ridden with a raceboard, its a twintip kite so is good for boosting, unhooking and looping (as good as a 15 can be for looping....) The Zephyr has alot more struts so it doesnt have as clear a canopy to catch the wind, the centre area on the fly is massive and creates so much power. Try one you will be impressed with how much fun it is, its not just a big pig that pulls hard. It doesnt turn like a 12, more like a 14m C-kite, and pulls like a truck, not putting a size on that one.
What i remember of the Zephyr was that it didnt turn fast, and for a 17m didnt pull all that hard, but that wasnt the 2012 it was the 2011.
Fair enough Ewan, the 2012 Zephyr was a big improvement over the 2012. The 2013 Zephyr is very close to being released and from what I've heard its been improved even more.
The 2012 Zephyr turning speed was very good, more like a 14/15 size kite and it pulled very well for its size and went upwind way better than the 2011 version.
Really looking forward to getting my hands on the 2013. The Zephyr is not a race kite, in the Ozone range the Edge 17 is the race winner in light winds, so for TT and directional cruising in light air, the Zephyr is the kite to have in your quiver especially for the bigger guys.
When you expecting them to arrive? Keen on finding out the improvements of the zephyr. Apparently they have improved the bottom end, just hoping they haven't compromised its top end.
I got a Fly and the kite goes with basically no wind and I am 95kg. The Fly even works in the waves, when everyone sits on the beach.![]()
