Hey I am just starting out getting into kiteboarding and am trying to do it relatively cheaply. I have a 8m 2009 2010 Slingshot Rpm lined up for around $600 and have been looking at boards and came across a litewave board for real cheap.http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/budgewoi/surfing/litewave-kiteboard/1016480131
I am going to pick it up tomorrow (I figured you couldnt turn down a board that cheap if its in reasonable condition.) but I was wondering if the board if reasonable learner friendly, or will it really slow down my learning curve.
So I was wondering if anyone had some thoughts or advice?
Rider: 70kg (super beginner)
Style: Not sure yet, but will probably want to learn tricks at some point
Weather: 15-30 knots (obviously while learning I will go out in the lower end of the range)
Size should be Ok for you at 70 kg, obviously you are going to have to get some bindings.

For the price you probably can't go too wrong... I think I would remove the middle fins on the heel side edge.
Are you in Sydney? If you are, I'm worried your kite might be a bit small, I'm 85kg and I ride a 12m most of the time, I have a 10m, but I'd use the 12m 6:1... I think a 10m might be a better selection so you can get out in lighter wind (15-20knots). or maybe a 9m...
Clarify where you're kiting if you like, and maybe others can chime in about the kite size...
nothing wrong with the board for a cheap beginner , grab some comfy pads and straps and itll do you for a while, its pretty similar to the older air rush boards that colin mc culloch used to design and were widely used, as for the fins theyll help with heel grip meaning upwing progression so leave as, some of the later flysurfer lightwind boards still had them, sure the are better boards around but for the money its a bargain

Does anyone else think that the 8m kite will be a bit small? I live at newcastle and will be kiting on lake Macquarie (around squids if anyone knows the area)
I can get my hands on a 10m kite that isnt in quite a good condition (slingshot rpm still though) for an extra 30 bucks.
