Had a 3rd ride on the Mauricio's Concept 135 today at Golden Beach (how nice are those glassy flat water ay). Board is strong as so most suitable to use with bindings. Board has a lot of feel and well designed. Made to last. Ran it with a 14m Havoc today and grips remarkably well. All freeriders should give it a go.

Hey there all. Great site. First time poster here.

The Canadian rep is a friend of mine and am trying to decide my quiver for this season. (Our summer is about 2 months away)
I have been kiting for 5+ years and come from a C kite quiver of Torches and SS Fuels prior to that. Spent alot of time last summer on the Vapour 10m and improveds everyday I rode it.
I have a bunch of the Havoc and Session demo gear that I have been riding. Of course this type of kite is fairly new to me and takes getting used to but am loving the unhooked ability of the Havoc's. I have yet to be able to try any HIFI's.

So ....my question for those that have ridden both (especially with a C kite background) which do you prefer between the HiFi's and the Havocs?

Cheers, VrT

havnt flown the havocs as such but i have flown the hifis and they are incredible unhooked. flies just like a C kite, but the kite sits so stable and solid in the air during tricks etc, ive progressed soo much since started riding them! i dont know how the havoc would be but from my experience bridled kites generally arent nice for unhooked freestyle ie passes etc. buut there are some exceptions ie eh rippers etc so i guess LF havin a wakestyle back ground the havoc would also be very good, i want to try them out as well.

the hifi is a reaally nice kite for freestyle tho, ive come from a background involving 04 fuel 13m, 10m Aero 2, waroo 9m 06, waroo 13m o7, Naish torch 3 10m 07 and now the hifis.. ive also flown many other kites such as vapors, vapor 2s, airush generators, most of the ozone range, best yargas, north vegas, switchblades etc.

Hey what do you LF/havoc flyers think of the depower system on the bar and lines? Is it just me or is it difficult to adjust on the fly? The cleat on the chicken loop seem to grab the depower rope and is very difficult to disengage when powered up. Also the quick release on the chicken loop sometimes jams too. I make a point of releasing it and giving it a flush regularly and sometimes it's quite sticky. I get a bit worried about it functioning smoothly in an emergency. I love the kite (I've got three of these kites now) but if I could choose I'd rather have the depower above the bar and a conventional quick release.

The rope we have this year is top quality, if not the best one in the market. What you need to do after each weekend is to loosen the rope from the cleat before washing, so salt/sand doesnt get trapped inside and harden up. We also always pull the depower rope in at least 4-6 inches before launch just in case wind is more than anticipated, a practice for the student to utlise the depower system after the kite is in the air, and to make sure the depower system is working fine.

Same applies for the quick release, take it apart for washing and leave it open to dry. Ours pull open easy as - our students practise pulling the safety at least 2 times during land drill at each lesson, then on the water again.

I believe having depower above the bar or a conventional quick release are all personal preference and what you get used to. With full depower kites, having depower above the bar might at times be a little hard to reach.

Glad you love the Havocs, it is my all time favourite too, combined with the Recoil Comp, nothing will win me over. Just got my 16m in today, cant wait to try it out. Now when I go on a trip, I have 6 Havocs (6-16) to cover all winds. Well, almost!
