Ask James or Lenny as they both have a set Daddy has not picked his up yet so you will have to wait and see what he thinks.

Ok Boys (Daddy/Pete), what difference have you noticed with the locally grown wings?

Will let you know tomorrow - really looking forward to trying out my shiny new wings in tomorrow's easterly........

Had 1 hour in reducing wind with my 9m and the new shiny carbon foils. It immediately feels different and much quicker and more slippery. Have to build up a lot more speed than on standard wings before attempting to rise....if not it stalls. Going to take me a few sessions to dial it in and maybe some tweaks to the pitch of the wings.....

How does the carbon race wing goes? any significant ride difference? How does it go on straight line? really keen on getting one :)

It's taken 4 or 5 sessions to get the feel of the new faster foils and I can summarise as follows: like putting high end wheels/ bearings on your old skateboard
top speed im guessing is nearer 25knots than 18 with the learner foils. Points just as high as learner foils , just a lot quicker.
for learning toe side and tacks Im thinking I should stay on my starter foils but will probably stick to carbons now.
no issue with tracking - I am tuning the angle of attack on the rear foil arm - using different thickness nylon washers under rear bolt.
have kept old foils for resale or passing on to my lad if he wants to learn foiling.
i kept the straps in same position as I had for old foils....thinking front foot may need to be forward an inch but not sure yet.
hope this helps

Left the front foil as fitted by PP - just fiddling with back foil angle. How about you James - any ideas for angles?

1 degree of lift is what I measured.

I also noticed the back wing is mounted on top of the fuselage rather than below like the standard stock wing, did you drill and then tread the hole?

Use M6 counter sunk stainless bolts cut down with hacksaw - drill about 10 mm deep and use create thread with a self tapping hand tool - not too hard in aluminium (watching Pilot Pete)

I have been riding a number of different foils and custom wings over the last few months and each one needs a few hours to adjust to. At first I just try to find a position using foot straps and mast position that allows me to have even pressure on each foot and get a stable ride, only then do I start to fine tune. I find if I fiddle around too much to begin with it’s harder to get right and takes longer, it is amazing how your body will adjust automatically to the foil if you give it time. 1 or 2 mm change in AOA (angle of attack) can make a huge change so try to do it incrementally and give your body time to adjust to the new trim setting before adjusting again. What works for one person may not be the best for another as body weight and stance play a big part in the tuning process.

PilotPete your a genius! The new carbon foils you made have totally transformed the foiling experience for me. Was going nicely this evening in 8-10 knots up and down wind (17m PL Fury) - just took some time to Dial in the muscle memory - feeling totally comforable now on both tacks and no maxing out at 15 knots! Will wear my old Garmin to see what speed I'm doing - feels like 20 knots plus but hard to tell as so smooth (And it was getting dark!)

Good to hear Daddy, will be interesting to see what your Garmin shows. It takes a little time to adjust to new set ups but well worth it.

Hi pilotpete,

Love the look of the wings you created for the LF Foilfish. Any chance to make some and send them to germany??

Thanks for posting that photo polykarb. I wasn't sure if the LF wings had a grind base in them for using on obstacles (Am sure that marketing said they would last better than more expensive carbon competitors).

Do do you reckon other foils would have stood up to the abuse you gave the wings? (Serious question as durability is important to me).

thanks in advance

Just saw the new models at the dealer conference and they look awesome. Much more "partability" and customisation available. A new, higher performance model is coming in with a great price tag (just over 2k) and the entry model will be cheaper unlike a lot of products this year... Going to be a massive year for LFs foil program I think

Carbon fiber wings are NOT compatible with aluminium (galvanic corrosion)! If you want to stick with that foil, get a set of G10 or FG. I think TKF sell some for the Liquid Force.

Any idea when this info will be public? I'm lining up to pull the trigger soon, not interested in current foilfish at current price, but I might hold off to check it out if significant changes are coming.. soon

Public release should be soon, I'll keep this thread updated as we get closer but the changes are great. Feel free to message me as well.

How do you get galvanic corrosion with aluminium and resin covered carbon fibre? I thought it came from 2 dissimilar metals, (accelerated by salt water)?
