I have found that using my old 6'4" surfboard with my 13m Waroo has been the good option for around 10knts. I have had a go on a few skim boards too on the lighter days and the skim board option is good because they fit in the car easier. I'm looking at possibly buying a North Skimfish. Has anyone tried one of these things?
I have also seen a few wake surf boards that you can get from wakeboarding shops. they are very similar to a skim board. Has anyone tried a wake surf board with a kite?

Yep, I have a Skimfish.
It should offer you a bit better bottom end than your surf board.
Good for travelling as it fits in my twin tip travel bag.
Seems to get me going upwind on my 12m C kite when others are struggling on 15-16m kites.

Thanks Jas, always good to have a light wind option just for those days when you get to the beach to find out the breeze didn't come in as strong as predicted. How does the skimfish perform in small waves?

Nothing but fun in all conditions. Out of curiosity I tried it with straps on a bigger day but that was a bad idea. Too wide and fins too small it flattened out on a bottom turn and tried to snap my ankles

Without straps it's great in smaller stuff though just experiment with your back foot positioning as the fish shape really changes it's dynamics when you move to the back.

2011 model should be a bit livelier but I like my 2010 model for the flex in the chop.
