Ok, so I'm in loving the NRG, which I have in the 14m (light breeze). Does anybody have an opinion on whether I should be going for a 8m and 10m, or 10 and 12m, or 8 and 12m?

Rider: Intermediate
Style: Freeriding
Weather: 15 - 30 knots
Weight: 80kg

Thanks for the replies in advance.

All of the sizes mentioned have overlap, but I think having a 12 and a 14m would be superfluous (particularly at the expense of a 10m). Just learn how to hold an edge on the 14m in stronger wind and use a good dose of trim where necessary (say up to, but no more than 20 knots); anything beyond this, and your heading into ideal 10m territory (which is a good thing!).

The 10m is a powerfull kite. So depends what you can hold the 14m in.
I would personaly go the 8m because its the nicest size out of the range and i could ride well in 20knots (im 75kg). Much under 20 you will have to work it depending on the board size.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Think I didn't write it very well.... When I already have the 14m, what other 2 sizes should I go for? up until now, the 12m envy has been my most used kite.

Agree with winter.
If your going for 2 more i would get the 6 an 10.
The 10 will end up your most used kite!

Also winter stop letting your wife iron your wetsuit!

Retrospectively, I wonder if it maybe have been smarter to not have gotten the 14m, and bought a 12m. That would open up the 8 and 12m combo.

How's the 14m? What sort wind can you get out in at the low end? What's your weight /board size? Cheers

I haven't been out in anything less that 14 knots, which I was pretty lit up on, using my tt (134 x 41). I'm 80kg. I'm though kind of doubting that I would be able to hold it down in 20knots.

Im same weight as you, 80kg ride a 135 x 40 and have a 14mtr torch & 12 mtr vegas, not a flash rider by any means, though i really only got the 12mtr for the girly (well my excuse to buy another kite at the time). The 14mtr is pushing things for me above 20+ knots, though have had a few good sessions in the past in the 20 - prob 23 kt range with alot of depower trimmed in and using a good edge to control speed, low end, like you prob havent bothered much under 13 - 14kts, in hindsight (a wonderful thing) i would have gone with an 8, 10, 14 combo. As both the torch & vegas are in good nick im looking at a 9mtr mutiny p-series to fill that void for riding not so powered up in the mid to high 20kts, so i feel your pain in the choosing game! hmm maybe the girly needs a 7mtr & 10 mtr while im at it.....lol

Ok, thanks for all the replies. Think I've pretty much decided on going with the 6-10-14. Chart wise, the 6m starts quite early, and whilst I like the idea of the 8m it is most likely too close to the 10m. Thanks again.
