I am currently riding an 11.5 kahoona V2 in Qld - using a twin tip (136x40) but am switching across to a surfboard as well. I'm 6" @ 75 kg. Am finding by the time 17-20 knots comes along I am pretty much at the top end of the range on the 11.5 & twintop. Was ordering a smaller kite for this spring/summer but am a bit undecided between the kahoona 9.5 and the 7.5.(Dont want to buy both) A bit concerned the 9.5 is going to be too close to the 11.5 or the 7.5 being too small. Anyone out there actually kiting with either of these kite combinations with some advice or information.
I think you are on the money, i haven't flown the v2 yet but have talked to people who have and they tell me it is grunty and turns fast. I would go the 7.5 so you dont have a big overlap. Cant wait for summer and some good wind to try one out for myself.![]()

Hey mate, we strongly advise you to go for the 7.5 as it is quicker to turn and generates accordingly the same amount of pull….. Additionally it is easier to handle in the surf and it pops up a bit quicker.
As you are on a Surfboard this is our recommendation, on the twin tip you would rather go on the 9.5 .
Hope this helped you.
