Anyone out there getting good survival rate on there boards? Hard to not jump surfboards , hard also not breaking them especially without a solid core inside that cobra factory painted number! I cant believe liquid force had the biz in 08,09 with the rawson standard blank covered with epoxy, no polystyrene. Yet to see one OF these snap ,only the fcs plug cracks, they love being whipped,- cant make more money if they arent snapping. We advance then we go backwards all for a custom paint job, this will in turn give the local shaper something to copy ,since now more and more surfboards are hitting the kite line-up , and we love to freeride that surfboard - hunting ,hacking and then straight out belting it . My last board came from my mate the shaper ,standard blank with 22oz of glass on it ,not a crack anywhere, future fins nothing but the best, 4 months strapped in , sure there are heel dents after 20ft airs not cracks.

Whats your point? You obviously dont know that when you want to go out jumping and ridding through chop etc use a TT and in the surf use your straped surfboard or normal surf board.

Problem solved. Your surf board will now last a lot longer.

If you want a board that is good try the f one bamboo custom boards or the firewire kitesurf boards both are very light and tough and are designed to do the job. They are designed to flex and not break easily the fone boards have the bamboo deck and base to help keep things together and the fire wire have the carbon rods and bolsa rails. Both these boards are finished in the same factory and both have excelent finish. felix i belive had a lot of input in to both of these boards.

I only just got my Fone bamboo board so will have to see how long it lasts, but have seen guys jumping as high on these boards with no problems.

Point is about surfboard strength, not riding twin tips in the surf ! Do you jump your fone waxman, how are the depressions, holding up ok , this was the point i was making, anyone having success with there surfboards as they ride them like a snowboard (strapped in) no boundaries! thanks for your input waxman

I've been riding a 2008 Naish Fish 5'5" retro twin with straps for about 6 months or so, fast and powered in 15-25knots at Magnetic Island where there is lots of chop and wind waves breaking on a reef crest, been pulling the trigger on plenty of big boosts as well.

The board is holding up well, obviously I'm pretty careful to avoid landing it flat whenever I can, but the fast riding in the chop gives plenty of slamming. So far, so good. It does have deck pads under the straps.

I dont have a twinny and I go out boosting in 35 knts . I have the current north Kontact 6' and have thoroughly abused it in the last 4 months 2-5 days a week. I also have an 07 North Rocket fish which has copped 3 years of abbuse (clearly built tougher than anything round now though).

I still like the feel of a surfboard jumping over a twinny.

I'd be keen to hear from people who have also had a good run out of treating thier surf board like a twin tip.

So now you want to put bindings on the surf board? so its more like snowboarding?

You know what is more like snowboarding, ride a tt designed for the surf or even a mutant if that is what would suit your style better then you will have no boundaries.

You are allways going to have limitations with any board wether it be a tt or surf board learn to pick a board that suits the style of riding that you want to do to suit the conditions and if you decide to go out and ride in the surf and just boost all day and break a surfboard no one really cares because you are being a d!ck head. and dont know what boards are designed to do.

If you are going to keep jumping your surfboard then you may want to look at your technique and try and land a bit softer. The fone boards do hold up to some jumping but im not really going to go out and boost masive with it because its not designed for it and with my extra weight i can see problems eventually which is not what i want i just wanted a sweet board for the waves and thats what i have got.

Good point maybe i will try a twin tip ,not. Same time i will point out that maybe mick fanning should go to a twin tip, or stop doing airs on a surfboard! Waves are for surfboards and yes some boards stand up better than others, as people have now commented about. Things change and thats what people are doing on them, looks great. Sorry my style doesnt agree with your ways.

So now you want to do little airs without a kite just like Mick Fanning.

But why would you want straps Mick doesnt use them.

Or are we going back to snowboarding again.

I bet you that Even Mick Fanning breaks boards regularly.

if you want some good advice try a Fone bambooST board $1350 comes with foot straps and pads the bottom of the board has a large concave for better edging and pops really hard, Check out what Mitu can do on one of these boards, i can garante you, you have no style compared to him. Watch the way he just floats down and lands softly even doing backroll kiteloops(no straps) on Addict 2. he is one of the best freestyle kite surfboard riders ever. I havent heard of to many people breaking these boards i recomend trying one out for yourself if you are really serious about taking your surfboard riding to the next level.

Lucky i am sponsored

How much would you expect to pay for a board that has fins straps and pads?

Thats not that much more than a topend tt board. You can ride modified surfboards for as long as you want but untill you try something that is designed for kiteboarding you will not know the diferance. the added performance it will give you is well worth the extra couple of hundered dollars.IMO

Totally agree, 1350 way to much, most shapers can copy anything and put more strength in there, no fancy overpriced stickers. the boards without straps from firewire are 750, bit of a mark up just for pads/straps. Your sponoed but yet you dont jump your board, thats soft, that definitely wouldnt encourage me to pay $1350 ,for a firewire, no woodcore? Might as well have a normal surfboard $ 750- 650. I bet you have nothing on mitu , yet they gave you a board, stick to tt more up your alley, leave the surfboards to surfers and let them do want they want on them. There are no rules only comments from opinionated no it alls.

Have been riding 5'8 takoon quads for few months in chops, waves, jumps, back rolls...
Great board, holding all the conditions and rough landing well, no probs.
Good for $.
Hardly use TT now.
No TT will ride a waves as good as surfboard.
Riding strapped allowes to be more agressive and spice up waves riding with indroducing some aerial tricks.
If you are interested in that particular board call Alex from Stonker in VIC (www.stonker.com.au)
Good luck.

i agree with you fully, you cant beat a surfboard for big powered carves and hooks and especially jumping off the back of big green ones goin flat out, i have a 2010 naish custom fish and couldn't be happier after sorting the ****ty fins, this board is solid and has copped a floggin,no cracks or compressions very impressed considering the big name board i had before this was kaput after 1 session,,,definetly go another naish

After breakiing my back fin box the other day either sandbar, floating tree , force from jump not sure .but it cracked the futures box which had been glassed in with 22oz of epoxyglass surrounding it. Borrowed a 5.7 graffity surfboard straight out of a chinese factory (same as naish maker), felt solid, quad fin, even a nice bit of timber veneer on it. Wind conditions 14- 28knts straight onshore waves 2-3ft . Felt easy on the feet , jumped good 10ft+ , surfed well for a little board and i believe they retail around the $650 mark. Very impressive for the price. Considering others are $1200.

Took the graffity 5'7 out in some 8-10ft faces ,wind 18-25knts at the bluff, great solid board, it is a quad, could lay it over not bad in some of the chop. easy to ride, go try one.

No just a board i borrowed ,just giving it a wrap because it worked well. My boards are all custom made by my mate. I dont need to follow everyone else into name brands, actually copies, because f1 rebadge the firewire. Waxman you are the only pimp, if you cant add to the topic constructively go elsewhere , if anyone cares what you actually say ! wax on wax off.

no need to cry GM get your facts right i think you will find your last statment is BS. Do you want to borrow the fone board so your mate can make a copy of it. I will allso send you a couple of Bandit 3's so your mum can stitch up a couple of decent kites. Then when you have the same thing you can still claim that you dont follow the brandnames.

Where can i buy one of your mates countefit boards from. Not worth giving your opinion if you cant even get the gear you are trying to PIMP.

Not trying to pimp bigshot ,just giving constructive critiscm , didnt know this was a forum for sponoed pimps! Yes it does come from firewire, get your facts right. My mate doesnt make boards for soft serves, go back to tt, and yes i suppose fone came up with that design. Dont think so ,. You comment about lots, you think your some sort of authority, crawl back into a rat hole in your little world in s.a. Whatever you do dont jump a surfboard ? To think if you werent so smart to begin with your comments, i would listen. Not now

Sorry i didnt read most of this thread, except the first and Arabs.

Anyway - a surfboard that doesnt break - Litewave Quad Surf - Ive punished mine for nearly 3 years and its still going strong - Properly punished - no holding back. big air, loops, over one wave onto teh face of the next landing flat, back jarring heel bruising landings. 3 years worth. Still going strong.

send me a PM if you want one.

Good answer, thats not what we are are asking, dont jump it another good answer . Dont kite with a board in waves another good answer! If thats what you choose because thats what your into good for you . Some of us want no boundaries, where everything goes ---- freestyle surfing. Board construction becomes a big element.
