Hei I'm Simon.
I am looking for a new kite to ride this fall since I have sold my BEST GP kite. I really liked that kite, but I did not like the depower system, some times it would not hold when i depowered it, maybe it was because the lines were all new and slippery. I have been searching around to see what is out there at the moment and fallen upon Bar System X2 from Gaastra Kites.

It looks really nice and I like that it comes with an adjustable clam cleat that gives the freedom to adjust the travel of the bar and the depower range.
I am writing to you because I want to hear the bad things about it(if you know what I mean).

I have seen all the pros in the video and I want to hear if there should be any cons or bad things to say about it. Things that the guy who is selling the kite will not tell me.

Maybe some of you have tried it and have experienced something. Does the rear lines get caught in the clam cleat? Does possibility of adjusting the clam cleat com in handy? How tight is it, when you want to adjust the clam cleat? Does the plastic hold? etc.

I am trying to gather as much info on the bar before I am buying one.. Hope you can help me!!
Aloha Simon

I have the 2013 x2 bar and the quick release deployed for no reason. I no longer use it as I don't trust the magnetic set up.

Forgot to mention that I got the bar with a 2012 gaastra jekyll and I love the kite, so not all bad.plus I only used the bar for about an hour came back to the beach landed, then went to go back out and quick release deployed when launching and had not touched the safety.

Hey yendor, just tried out the system x2 bar........dunno if it was just me but in the two sessions I went out it safety released both times. The first had the kite invert by the time I reached the qr to put it back together, which meant try and fly it into sure about 2-3hundred meters to sort the lines out. I thought what the hell I didn't even touch the safety. Second time had my suicide go as well, lucky I got to the kite in time to save it......again a fair way out. This time self rescue to the beach. I like the lines and the bar in general but the magnetic quick release is awful!!

So I guess you found the same and used another bar and lines or were you able to switch the quick release (chicken loop) for a different one.

Annoying when it is supposed to be an amazing technology system!
