I weigh around 90kgs, 5'10" and could be a bit fitter I'd i lower my coopers consumption. I am looking at a Cabrinha CO2 12M Kite and Prolimits Seat Harness. do you guys / gals have any comments on this selection. Haven'''t bought a board yet either, any ideas?????? All sugestions welcome.

hey cobbs,
I would highly recommend you not spend your money on the Cabrinha Co2 as this is an old C kite which in comparison with Cabrinha's newer model bow kites is very difficult to fly and even more so to learn on. If you can get your hands on the 12m Cabrinha Switchblade1 or Xbow1 you will save yourself some major head aches... the largest being water relaunching. In addition the bow kites are so much safer than the CO2. The new snowboard constructions boards such as naish and nobile are fantastic boards which will make learning so much easier as they go upwind without thinking. The good thing with these recommended items is that they are used by both experts and beginners. Dont be afraid to spend a little bit more...

No need to lower your Coopers consumption level; after a hard session on the water you'll need all the calories you can get!

In regards to the gear; i'd pass on the Cab CO2 unless your really trying to get into the sport on the cheap. It WILL adversely affect your learning curve as many people will attest it's far easier to learn on a high depower kite like a bow/SLE/hybrid.

Whilst you've probably heard it before... get yourself a lesson or two so you can trash an instructors gear and get some proper experience before you even consider buying your own gear. The lessons do look expensive but they'll save you a heap of money in the long run if your keen to get into kitesurfing in the long term. Think of it this way; 2 hours of professional instruction is cheaper than that Cab CO2 kite, and you'll learn a helluva lot more with the instructor than you will by yourself with that CO2.
