I'm waiting for a different hook / bar / leash set up - one which has more of a rail around the body so the hook in point isn't restricted to just my front but can slide to my sides (or even back) depending on how I'm riding.

I thought this was already invented....a loose waist harness......no you are right Fooosh, I think Peter Lynn used to make a sliding hook, but it never got in to mass production....shame because I saw one up at Hold the Line Kites once and looked nice.
Hey no funny Fooosh, you aint a kook.
Sliding spreaders are cool.
But riding back and forth on the webbing, it'll wears in 2 months.
Maybe no so good.
Stagnant spreaders/web systems last 12 maybe 24 months.
Depending on you water time and weight.
Plenty systems have ups and downs. Happy hunting
