Rider: 83,Level - intermediate
Weather: 13-18 knots
Build Quality: 9/10
Satisfaction: 10/10
Disclosure: Amateur

My Comments:
Had a go at the new TRX 2013 14 meters.

Feels really good. Enough power for my 129 cm board and for my fat ass 83 kg. The wind was not the most powerfull, but still had a lot of fun.
It handles really well, fast and feels really lite (for a 14M).

I am curious to see how it would behave in the waves, but on flat water it was really nice. Really high jumps (despite the fact that I am still an amateur).

Any other opinions?

Ok, so, just to be clear: Good reviews have to be only about the kites you guys sell.

Roger that.

And finally, 83 kgs, first season riding a 129 twinny.. How's that working for you? Soon as I saw that combined with your intermediate comment, combined with your many informed reviews and questions regarding moo wiis, rallys and losing 3 boards in a short period of time.. I can honestly say anything that is written on here by you NOBODY should take seriously

Ok, beginner. I still love the new TRX 2013. I think it's awesome for doing great jumps (like beginners do) and kiteloops (beginner ones).

You guys should try it!

I know...that's why I am asking for a list of kites that we are allowed to give reviews here.
The fact that I've lost my board is because I am on the water every time the wind is above 12-13 knots.

You lose boards mike for a couple of reasons.
1. You don't know or have learned to board recover effectively. Usually from not being shown in lessons or having scoopon lessons

2. Your trying to kite in marginal winds and nobody else is out on the water.

3. You pulled a kiteloop, pulled out early and got destroyed. You think you may have split your bum hole when you hit the water at mach 1. The board is off and your dazed to the point of just trying to make it to shore before you pass out from the hurt that is being delivered.

4. Some sneaky bastard took it off the beach while you came in for a beer with your local crew. You suspect a euro, but can't be sure. Will check gumtree later.

Which one are you mike?

Buddy, I know it's hard for you, but try to focus for a second:

The fact that I like a kite, and post a review in regards to that kite, has nothing to do with me losing a board 6 months ago, whatever the reason for that. And who the hell said it's my first season?

I just said I like the new TRX 2013 14 meters. Gave a couple of arguments (best I could with my experience) as to why I like it, and that's it.

What is your problem? Besides the one that we all know. Just give me the list of kites you are ok with.

These internet forums are exactly like high school, back in the day.
The usual suspects are the common denominator. There is always a school bully or two, a few sports jocks who are good at everything, the 'know it alls', some generally fair and likeable sorts, the class clown, and a few wall flowers watching from the side lines.

They are all here.

Every flame war on Seabreeze involves Eppo.... Yet I don't think Eppo says anything really offensive, he's just trying to help the little guy. I think Eppo flames himself.

Just putting it out there.

Question - Is the TRX a good kite to lose a board with?

I've only been kiting for 12 years and currently using the TRX 9, 12, 14, I mostly ride surfboards but also enjoy a tt session. The kites go great and the build on them is excellent. I am not going to give a full review however I would like to say. I don't know why some people here are so adamant to bash brands and people through the keyboard. Why don't you ask for a demo and then make an informed opinion.

Fellas, that is hilarious, I am sure I'll have problems sleeping at night because of your banter. However, for the people without ADHD, the discussion was about the new GRFFIN TRX 2013, in this case 14 meters. Let's get back to the topic.

Now I've had another go last night at it in the surf and I have to say it's pretty damn fast and versatile. I don't know if it was because of the kite, but I finally managed to do a backroll and 360 spin with a kiteloop without crashing the kite.
The kite has an improved design making it even faster than the previous one. Also the pulleys have been eliminated for a more direct feel (which I really like).
The high end capabilities of the kite are really awesome. Not a very grunty kite, so really good for beginners (like myself ).

The bar has been improved as well and now the above the bar depower line is no longer tangling (like other brands I have). Also the depower is much much easier to work with, even in pretty strong winds. I had moments with my other kites when I couldn't depower when I need it.

The quality overall has been improved making them more reliable.
Now, because I've only tried a couple of other brands (Slingshot, Cabrinha, Crazyfly, North) and have only 2 years experience in kitesurfing, can someone with skills try the NEW GRIFFIN TRX 2013 and share their experience?!

I just say it as I see it, but only my opinion in the end. And for the record I have not been involved in this banter (at least this time). You are right I am only trying to help out and I do get a lot of emails asking for my opinion on certain kites etc, and I tend to then direct them to guys I know that actually fly the kite.

So...yes the TRX, seems some people are happy on them. I have not flown them, so I won't be commenting.

RPM, Not my comment. There are different reasons why you see things that are not there:

1. You are really frustrated because you've lost so much money on the Ozone kite for 5 hours of use, and you know there are slim chances of you selling that with 1100.
2. You are a racist and ignorant.
3. You need a prescription for anti-psychotics.
4. Or a combination of all of them.

so, which one are you?

Oh Gawd ,another bumpy thread involving a Grif zealot and their detractors and supporters.an interesting thread nevertheless with some interesting comments particularly th one likening chat threads to school and a bit of info about the kite. Ok (disclaimer first I sell the occasional grif but it isn't my main gig anymore ,I like Chris the owner and designer and he is a friend,He has taken on board suggestions over the years and has a kite that is well made lasts well and performs well that most owners seem very happy with ,like me he should check his emails and voice mails more thoroughly .Apparently he will respond to text messages bestI am writing this wearing my horn rimmed professor glasses so maybe that makes me know it all nerd in the schoolyard perhaps) .I have a 2012 12 m Trx .I weigh 110 kg .The power is a bit down for its size i reckon but Chris is sending a 2013 bridle for it that apparently addresses this and also makes te kite the same as the latest one .I ride a cardboards mutant with waves being my thing .It is quick turning and has great depower and the kite turns well while depowerd (which i must get a waveriding friend of mines take on who has a very old north rebel that excells at this and he has not been able to find a replacement for that has this featre including north rebel vaiants since then).Anyway I am really enjoying my waveriding .I recon having a quad fin board will help address the bottom end issues too .My friend phil reckons that this is his secret weapon in light wind ,I also love to boost (whats that you ask .It something that early kitesurfers used to do .big jumps off peaking waves.I'm not sure why it has been phased out .Perhaps strapless waveriding has somehing to do with it but people on twintips dont do it much either ) the trx is very good in this dept but when i was doing it the other day the tips seemd to be colla[sing a bit which felt a bit funny but didnt seem to effect flight time .also kite was not pumped that hard .for my weight and combo its good from 16 kts ish cross on shore wind and I am yet to find the top end. my flat tri fin decay magic red board ( I cant remember the official name but its like a big skim board with fins gives me a kt or 2 more bottom end .Ive gotta grab tezzas big north quad fin on a light day and check phils theory out re quad fins) ,
So there you go ,

Hi, Just a quick reply re the above

Re Mikedobee and "Possibly the most pathetic attempt of a pimp ever" from Berg K1t3r

Mikedobee was riding the other brands above a few months ago, after one of his new kites ripped in half ( 6 months old and a light crash into flat water + shop wouldn't warranty it ) he asked me for a Griffin, I sold him a used pre-production 2013 TRX. He is not a team rider etc and not sponsored to pimp etc.

If ANYONE has ANY problems with our gear contact me for support in or out of warranty, if you buy a kite from us and don't like it, return it for a refund within 30 days.

Only a few Pre production 2013 TRXs have been making the rounds in Sydney and far south. No other states have tried them yet.

All the best, and hope some wind kicks in soon.
