We just got an 8m Max for demo and over 10 team riders took it out yesterday in 20-30kts conditions, 8/10 loved it, the other 2 are too bow oriented lol. Turns extremely responsive, very powerful and heaps of depower for a c-kite. Relaunches like a bow, very well made bar/lines with adjustable 5th line. Concluded by our team as one of the most versatile kite for the surf in particular.
Anyone wishes to try it in Brissy give us a yell.
kite: gaastra max 8m
Wind: ranging from <18 to <30
kiter skill: average
Wieght: 66kgs
water: flat to large chop
Good:
that is one of the fastest kite i have ever flown its not just fast turning but the
speed at which it flies through the window is awesome. would be an insane
wave kite. kiteloops are really fast and powerful. great feeling kite,
responsive and raw power like i mean you can really feel whats going on at
the other end of the lines its not a spongey feel like other kites. it
boosts really big but drops you like a stone :) (i could probably avoid this
if i was a better kiter. lots of depower in the bar then the strap and the
fifth line, i felt complety in control in gusts up to near 30 knots and im
only 66kgs. the bar setup id good and clean. i really like the 5th line
trimming. the kite looks just like a fuel lol.
Bad:
Chicken loop ridiculously small=almost impossible to hook back in=really
needs to be bigger. the chicken loop rope needs to be thicker or sheathed in
plastic because it looks like it will wear through due to bar travel because
it is so thin. the kite was a little unstable at the edge of the window but
i guess it was because the wind was gusty and swinging from south to east
south east.
Summary:
great C kite feeling, speed to burn and lots of power. a perfect freestyle
and wave kite. the kite takes a while to get used to and at first feels
twitchy and unstable and waaay to easy to over steer but once you get used
to it it is just soooo much fun to fly, i like it!
Spoke to Gaastra Kast night - the chicken loop has been revised and will come trhough with better and larger loop in the next months production and we will have retro fit chicken loops for anybody who wants to change for free.
regards
David
