Guys,
Im interested to hear if anyone has had any dramas with their IDS center lines breaking or fraying through the split tube on a 2010 Cab kite? Particularly the landing line.
I heard a few 2009 kites had dramas even after only a couple (like 3) sessions. But in 2010 Cabrinha apparently used a 50% stronger line.
Cheers
No, i used the hell out of my 9m 2010 switchy but lines are still like new, the 09 centre lines on my 12m are still fine.
The 2010 set up is a lot cleaner with landing line running through the centre PU tube section.
and the 2011 is even better!!
Bungy sections , (near the swivel) need replacing about half way though season but at like $10 or so no really a big deal.
The first lot of 09 centre lines were replaced as a waranty issue, but i'm pretty sure that was just the first production run, and the problem was ironed out on the subsequent runs.
Christofurry,
The 2010 IDS line works exceptionally well with very little wear occurring, even over a great deal of time spent on the water. The 2010 IDS line starts from the chickenloop and travels INSIDE the black PU tubing which is double chambered. This protects the IDS line from any chaffing or wear. I would be very surprised to hear if any had any rider had issues at all with the 2010 IDS line. The 2010 center line is meant to withstand a much great weight limit, which ultimately means it is much stronger.
The first edition of the 2009 IDS line was a thin line (actually looked similar to the 2010 line) but this line travel on the OUTSIDE of the black PU line. This line would wear/chafe quite easily as it went though the middle hole of the bar. If this line was wrapped around the black PU then this would speed up the wear process on the line, which is why there were stories of persons breaking their 2009 IDS lines very quickly. Cabrinha released in 2009 a free upgrade IDS line which was thicker and had roughly a 2ft PU coating to protect this line when going though the center hole of the bar. This thicker line which had the PU coating worked great. However those riders which did not tune their lines for stretch would find that their heavy duty IDS line would start wearing as it would wear on the line rather than on the protective PU coating.
In reality the 2010 IDS bar is a much more refined and way better control system than the 2009 in so many ways. The only issue the 2010 bar had on the first production run was that the grip on the right side would peel where the Cabrinha logo is located. Cabrinha sorted this out right away with any bar like this being warrantied as far as I hear. Obviously this mistake was very embarrassing for them, but as expected they sorted this error out instantly.
