Hey
Im looking for some advice.
Ive been kiting for 3 years and at initial intermediate stage, but surf alot aswell.
I trying to decide between the Best Kahoona and the Blade Vertigo 9.5m and 10m respectively.
My budget isnt big hense blade and best. I want a kite for day to day surfing by the coast, so small waves, big jumps of the lips and fun. I also have bad elbows and need something that I dont have to wrestle with. I have had cabrinha's - didn't like to hard on the elbows and have had a waroo 07 - which i liked, good on my arms easy to use, wanted a bit more lift power for jumps. Im also open to ideas as long as they are in these brands.
Any suggestions?
I think the kites are made in the same factory so are supposed to use same materials and bar/lines
I have a blade vertigo 10 m I think mine is the 08 model, and it is a very fast fun kite but was let down by a poor water relaunch - especially in the waves.
It was because of the shape of the kite- not much arc in the leading edge and the narrow diameter of the front leading tube- it had to be pumped very hard to maintain a rigid enough structure not to deform when wet. If you crashed it it would relaunch ok unless hit by a wave and then it would tie it into a soggy mess-swim into the beach and reset/relaunch.
I found it was easily fast enough for a surfboard, and the speed was great for marginal winds b/c of apparent wind. It was moderately heavy on the bar.
I haven't flown a later model vertigo though....
hey mate, i also fly the blade vertigo and find it a really nice kite to fly, the bar pressure is fairly light but you can still feel the response. As said before it is a really fast kite for its class. I have also found the wind range on this kite HUGE! and will take wind of well over 30 knots and im 72 kg. I would recomend it for sure and as you said it is a budget kite but well worth buying. If you are interested i am selling my 10 at the moment its in the adds on here its the one with no photos if you want photos just shoot me an email and ill send some.
Thanks Declan
have you thought of a second hand bandit dos? All the things you say you want is in that kite (and more), and you can pick one up for cheap on seabreeze at the moment... Just a thought...
Disclaimer - Best rep!
From your description and if you were going Best, I would be looking for a good cond 08 or 09, 9 or 11 waroo.
Just what you are after from what you describe and you should find a good one for about 7-800 kite only. Both years and both sizes were great kites.
Thanks for you thoughts - still undecided - anyone know what a waroo, kahoona or vertigo like with a surf board?
The bandit dos II - is it good in the waves? I hear the depower is awefull? any ideas?
Have a look at the NEW kites, very fast turning and medium to light bar pressure.
And the prices aren't bad.
I have the 7m but only have flown it once so far. I reckon the 9m or even 11m would be ideal for everyday surf.
No frills but strong construction but still light in the air.
Cheers
Rich
PS I am not punter, some of the reasons you have stated here are the reason why I went with NEW.
Thanks guys - gonna go for a bandit 2009 as they are goign super cheap here as the 2010 is due out in a month.
Thanks for all the tips.

In future folks who ask for advice on 'X' brand vs 'Y' brand should exclusively receive advice for brand '27.95' as they obviously take tha much notice of those that spend time attempting to help.
Good luck on the 27.95 Monkeyboy.
