Does anyone know if this is a good kite... I have been told by a guy that they have only been introduced into Oz which is why they are so cheap in the shops. Thinking of getting one, anyone flown one yet and what are they like?
Limited budget at the mo after starting my site but thinking of spending some of what I have left on a kite and getting a good trade in on a Takoon
Have flown a 12m Vertigo at Queens Beach in Redcliffe. The guys at Liquid Surf Designs Kite Shop, just around the corner from the beach stock them. I'm no pro kiter and havn't flown a massive range of bows or new style kites but the 12m vertigo seemed like a good thing to me. It flew and jumped well like most others I've tried. I've heard the bottom end is a little lazy, in lighter wind, but I've heard lots of stuff about lots of gear. I flew it in just under 25knts and thought it went very well.
Thanks Luke. I have been told by someone who contacted me directly trying to sell me another type of kite that the Blade is really bad in light winds but go well in anything above 20knots. Can anyone confirm this as I am supposed to be picking it up today
Anyone got any more feedback about the 08 Blade Vertigo or Beast? I've read a review saying its good in light winds. It seems good value $1450 for a 12 and the word is they are built tough. I was going to get a switchblade 3 but they are all sold out and I don't want to wait two weeks for them to come in (sold my other kite) so I started looking at the Blade. I'm trying to get one to demo...
POP
i got a barely used 07 10 m vertigo ex demo with bar lines cheap for $350 as a 20-30 knot kite
PROS - great bar and lines- great depower strap setup-has a stopper ball to ride against
really nice direct steering and feeling kite, gives alot of feedback through the bar, medium to low bar pressure, good depower , very quick and responsive (is a 10 m though) with no "propeller-ing" when turning=holds power in a turn. they seem to be built strongly from what i can see, and the struts are a good diameter.
didnt back stall at all , even in the lulls, and not prone to over-sheeting
five lines with minimal bridle
Cons- is a pretty high aspect hybrid so water relaunch is harder than other hybrids- front tube needs heaps of pressure, or it will fold when rolled in waves, and no one pump.
overall i was pretty impressed, and would definitely buy blade again.
also the vertigo doesn't look like any other kite that i can think of out there.
o/w i ride slingshot rev, flysurfer pulse 2, rrd hyper type- no affiliations with any brand/shop
Hey all,
just got a whole quiver of 08 vertigos!
from previously riding cabrinha, wipika and LF kites the blade is a strong contender!
they are such a good kite and are perfect for all styles of riding!
if your looking for a kite that turns really quick and is super stable look at the blade vetigo!
if you are finding you are having trouble with some low end grunt alter the back lines and shorten them up! this allows the kites leading edge to open up to its full potential and they become a power house!
get on board with blade kites and your next kite i say! ![]()
cheers ben
