Howdy,
Has any one tried both of these bindings and able to provide a direct comparison of the 2?
I have tried the Cab syncs and due to the strap being of longer length it provides an awesome positive feel, a lot more so than normal straps. I was surprised at how good they feel.
I understand that the North Entity has every adjustment under the sun, but do they also have this 'positive' feel?
I.e if you have used both, which feels better to ride?
Peace![]()
Yeah it's a big help. I was tending towards the syncs as they feel pretty damn good, but had no idea how the norths felt. The norths look better quality but I'm all about how they ride.
Cheers heaps
Used both, both have good hold and cushioning. I kept breaking the Syncs hence one if the reasons I'm in boots now.
I think the Entity is a better strap, bit st!t the spacing isn't 6" and only fits north boards. They can fit others but you probably won't get the duck you want, or be riding off centre.
The warlocks look like they would def work, have never heard of them but looks like you can lock em down pretty tight. Have decided on the syncs but will progress to boots.
Cheers all for your help!
I found some stainless washers that fit perfectly in the sync screw-head seatings. These seem to spread the load more and lock the plate in place better and I've not had issues since. Previously the plastic was collapsing and flexing excessively under the screw heads.
I have not tried the entities but I do have a box of broken syncs.
Syncs have been by far my favourite binding/ strap ( combined with the liquid force luxury footpads ) hence why I keep buying them even when they break.
I have just purchased the naish apex as a change but have not yet ridden them ,
Comparing Syncs (2011) to North Entitys.
I have size 11 feet (wide yet flat). Absoultely hated the Syncs - way too skinny at the bottom, yet felt very loose with top down fit. Also looked like they would last 10 seconds without a washer under the strap.
Entitiy allows adjustment for this, so they were A LOT better.
Based on my feet, the most locked in, yet comfortable pad/straps I have used are:
Excellent: Slingshot Bolt-on 2.0's, followed by Ocean Rodeo Bliss.
Above Average: North Entities, M8's
Average: Liquid Force Luxuries, Naish.
Below Average: Cab Syncs, Original SS Bolt-Ons.
hated my 2010 syncs and they were my first bindings. swappd them out after a few years for some boots. its like a whole new board and love it.
loveing the new cabrinha hydras (xcaliber bindings) and am so glad they did away with the syncs. keeping it simple works for most equipment be it a tradesmans tools to diving equipment. I can clearly see how they syncs were ment to be a hybrid between boots and straps now but just to many parts for it to stretch and tear threw constant wear.
I have the Cab Syncs on my Xenon Laluz. Took a few sessions to get them how I like them ( tight) but now I love them.
Lets be clear here, no matter what cabrinha call them, they aren't bindings. Bindings are boots. They're straps. Cabrinha can call them the second coming of the lord and they'll still be straps. Cabrinha started by calling them backless bindings which was marketing speak for "we're trying to make them seem as cool as bindings".

Silly business again! LOL! You said it yourself, Boots are Boots!! Bindings can be anything that helps a persons foot stay in place on a surfboard or TT.
I am currently using the 2012 cab sync's. I have durability issues with the bolt/screw head recess in the plastic part of the strap. The semi-circle recess in the plastic that houses the screw head has worn allowing the binding to slide from time to time. Other than that I think they are pretty comfy but take a bit of mucking around with the laces to get a good setting.
I have used the North Entity in the past and thought they were pretty bloody good. Although I didn't give much thought to how my gear functioned at that stage as I was still in the learning phase. But seem to remember not coming out of them as much as I do with the cab sync's. I would have to give my vote to the Entity.
The 2013 Naish Apexlook pretty smick. Does anyone have some feedback on these?

Send a self addressed postpak to Kitepower in Sydney and we will send you (or anyone) back a complete set of new ends for any of the Sync backless bindings.

Cheers Kitepower, that sounds like a plan. I'll get onto it when I'm back in Aus soon.
Just beware, that the North NTT's delaminate your board decks. The underside of the pads wear quickly and the hard surface under the pads wear off the top layer of the deck. I also found them a little stiff and uncomfortable. Have heard the 2013 Naish straps are very good.
