Then get a zephyr and ride it all the way until the 10m REO becomes fun. this way you can choose to go flat out or put the 10m reo up and your nuggett. You are on a TT anyway, nothing to be gained on a cat 14m in my humble opinion. You cant really surf with it. if ya want to get into unhooking, Crew are unhooking the zephyr as well. Its got enough aspect and edge DNA to make sense in lighter winds with less power over the wing, more sense than a big 14m cat. Plus the zephyr kills it in the boost department. Again some edge. My opinion don't piss about with 14m, learnt the hard way too many times. Either go a big zephyr or do the 12m cat thing then you have at least some surf potential on the nugget or mako, of if it picks up and ya can't be other end changing down ya wainmen.

Hey Spark- Think you're on the right track... 8-10 Reo for waves, 12 Cat for flatwater with light wind small wave option.

I ride similar conditions to you 10-30 (15-25 avg) side-shore waves, and 10-22 (12-18avg) flatwater with 8 & 10 Reo, 2011 C4 12m which is more similar to the 2013 Cat than the 2011. The C4 is worthless in the surf (no drift, whereas the Cat does), but the 10 Reo will get me up and riding in the lightest winds we get, if there are waves to push me along. A big kite doesn't drift as well as a small kite flown well, so there's no advantage of a 12 Reo for me. A powered 10 Reo will boost very high, just needs movement to keep from dropping like an old C kite should you go out in higher wind flatwater. What makes the Reo not good for freeriding is the constant and spongy pull. That's where your Cat's more locked feeling and on-off pop is a bonus. The reverse is that a Reo steers fully sheeted out, lets you know just where it is, and doesn't pop you off your set rail. You might try a flat kite like a Slingshot Rally which has a huge range and works well for both conditions, but you'll probably be happier staying with one brand. As for waiting for 2014 Reo, which I'm doing, I just hope they improve the 12 (lighter steering, better range) and leave the rest alone!

Let all know what you come with!

2 weeks till I know more, when I visit Mauritius, where they are testing final protos now. Have been chatting with Rob W, all I know is its a new build, " It's just better all-round but mainly more solid?" Rob will never go into spin about his kites, he lets the riders do the talking.
I'll be there in 2 weeks, if you check out the Kitepower Sydney Facebook page you will see a pic posted there by someone on the island, there are 2 colours of the new Reo visible, but they are sitting on the sand not in flight.

Any info on new Reo from Mauritius
