Thinking about getting a couple of Best Taboos. I have seen the other threads on here with mixed reviews but am wondering now that the kite has been out for a while what peoples thoughts are that have tried them???
I havent come across a bad review yet on the Tabou. It is not a beginners kite, it is a top end performance kite. The 17m is a light wind machine.
I got to try the 8m, it is a very well built kite, one of the best i have seen this year. Biggest problem i had was it was just a bit to small. I think with the Taboo it is fairly important to get the right sizes for your conditions. I would love to get a ride on one that is in its wind range for it's size. Best seem to have there stuff sorted out this year.
Get on the Best forums on there website, it is one of the only manufactures websites where people can give a honest review good or bad and it doesn't get deleted. So is a great resource for reviews and common problems, all the crew on the forum are very happy to answer all of your questions and can better recommend sizes etc for your weight and conditions.![]()
Martin that deal was only advertised in the states, but has since ended. It was a hell of a deal though and not the first time Best has done it. As far as i know it was kite only so the bar for each kite would still slug you around $500 each on top of the price. Either way i wouldn't be complaining getting a free kite. And really you can fly any of the best kites on the 50cm redline bar, or any bar you have lying around.
It is a bit hard to get kites from the states from best now. Best have cracked down on it and no longer allow there distributors to sell outside of there area.
The taboo is not the same as the old waroo or bullaroo, it is completely new.
If ur looking to buy a couple make sure u get a 17m its my fav kite, i have 12 and 17 taboos, 17 is great for me in very light wind on a big board u can get going in just bout nothing ive been riding in 6 knots being able to hold ground and just make upwind and had it bit over 15knots wen the wind suddenly picked up but with heaps of depower it wasnt a problem, the 12 wants a bit of wind ur looking for 13 14 knots before its actually fun to use it but then cause its so smooth u can ride it in really strong winds too, as u can see if its blowing 12 knots or less i go 17 anything over ill use the 12
17 will help ur riding out ull b riding alot more days than ur mates will b
Cheers Guys
What is the 12 like for boosting/hangtime?
Also what size bar would work the best on the 12m?
12 and 17 both jump really well if u want hang time use 17 in good wind that thing is like a parachute
Thanks Tommy123
How do you rig your 12m so it flys the best ie: middle knot for rear lines, top knot with a little depower etc??
I just put it on middle knot whether im using 12m in 20 knots or 17m in 8 knots i keep it on the middle knot, then play around with depower strap from there, did u buy urself a taboo?
Cheers, yeah got the 12m and going to get a 8m or 10m next week (8m may be a little small this season since the wind has been **** on the goldie). The 12m is a sick kite very happy with it and have tried it back to back with a Rally, Nomad, Switchblade. Very happy with my choice. I haven't seen any 17m around I heard they have sold out
Hi guys, most of the Taboos have sold out, but large shipment due this week. 8,10,12,14,17 in this shipment. Contact your local dealer for further info and deals.
