So I need a high wind 8m kite, and it's down to these two but can't decide which to go with
Help ![]()
My quiver is Switchblades but I rode last years Bandit and it had heaps of grunt, in fact the 9m Bandit is gruntier than my 10m Switchblade3 which surprised me!!!!
I've read the reviews on the Dos but here in Perth I can't get a hold of one to demo it's pay now for 3-4 weeks delivery only 2 left one sold already so usually would try an demo but can't obviously.
Can get the SB 8m in a week as apposed to 4 weeks, is it worth the wait over the Cab?
I have a new switchIDS 10m anyway and know these are great kites, but like how the Bandit flys like a "C" shape, so whats the scoop what do you lot recon I should get for my high wind kite between these two????![]()
Thanx in Advance![]()
Can't really answer your question of DOS v SB as I haven't flown the SB but I do have a Banditdos 10mtr and am loving it. I have not really had that much time on it yet due to an ankle/leg injury but compared to last years Bandits it appears to have bettter float/hangtime and seems to fly a bit further forward in the window (to me anyway)which translates to charges upwind.
I know mine is a 10 and you are considering an 8 but keep an eye out for me at Mullaloo (Pink, black and white 10mtr DOS) I'm down there most days and as long as I have had my fix/fly for the day you can have a go on it and see what you think.
I'm not sure what you weigh but if you already have a 10 SB and are after a true high wind kite you may even want to consider a 7, they are grunty.
P.S. My 9mtr Bandit is for sale in the buy and sell section. ![]()
Dont try to compare the two kites in the same size as this years switch ids has been tuned more for top end which means they had to give up some of the bottom end these kites basicly represent as a true size kite where as the bandit dos would perform like a kit 1 or 2m bigger in size. this said they are both great kites if you have already been riding the switchblade than you would be use to the way it rides bow style, and fast but not as fast as the bandit as they have the speed record. but if you are now useing the 10m as your high wind kite than stick with that in a ids but if you switch to a dos try a 9 or 8m my big wind kite last year was the 7.5 bandit which was great from 18 to 40+kts. i weigh 95kgs. should be a tougth choice as eitherway you would be happy as you would get out in more wind.
Question 8m ids or 7 dos? to close to call.
Anyway decided to go for the Bandit
,my orders in should get the kite a 2 or 3 weeks, what made me decide was the new bar set up on the switchy it's crap as far as the override system doesn't lock in place anymore so thats why I went with the Bandit Black on Kaiki hopefully ![]()
The dos is great if you only have normal sized arms as you need 2m long arms to grab the bar on the cab but i think they have some stopers coming you may allso wand a standard stopper ball for the dos as you probably dont need as much depower as they have and it makes spinning the bar out a lot easyer.
I havent stoped smiling since i got my dos![]()
