Im an intermediate Kitesurfer of 165 lbs that would like to get into surfboard and I could get a Chop Top 2008 5"4 at 400$ brand new. Is it a good board to start with; is good in the big chop and in 5 or 6 foot wave.

I don't plan to use it as a light wind board since I already got a Spleene Door.

Any comment would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey J,
I've got a '09 choppy and love it.
I here that the '09 is better than the '08 but that's usually what everyone pimps when a new model comes out.

Choppy is best suited in chop and side on mushy conditions.

They do work in 5 to 6 but if your lucky and have powerful clean waves then I reckon you would be better on a surf board.

If you're going strappless then I would be trying to get hold of an old surf board, that would be a cheaper option. If strapped then choppy would be ok.

No doubt a good board to learn on IMHO.
