I have just purchased my first Airush Kite - A 09 Flow ST. I was checking out the Trigger Release system on the 4 line cleat bar.

As supplied the trigger sits on the left hand side with the cleat on the top of the housing. I feel more comfortable with trigger on the right hand side. I've had a look to see if I can unscrew the cleat & attach to the other side to reverse the arrangement & finish with the trigger on the right. Seems this this isnt possible as the housing comes in two different sides with the bottom having a hexagonal depression for the lock nut essentially not allowing for the cleat to be repositioned (properly) on this side of the housing (?).

Now looking at the manual there are pics in there where the trigger sits on the RHS with the cleat on top...

So I am wondering...am I missing something? Is is possible to reverse (properly) my system to have the trigger on the RHS?

Or is there AR chicken loop/cleat assemblies that come with triggers on the right & some on the left?...or all on the left???

cant help you on that one mate except try turning the qr assembly and chicken loop upside down , you might need to re-conmect your center lines,

i always look at the brands that have the push away center qr systems. naish, north, new , nobile and cabrinha to name several brands. being left handed i favor my left side to qr in an emergency although even if not left handed but if right hand is broken then its hard to quick release a qr system that is on one side as opposed to in the center with the opposing hand.

Hi Factor 5,

Just turn the chickenloop assembly over so the trigger is on the right, it makes the trigger the right way up and the trim cleat upside down.

Trim is usually set when you first launch and usually is not altered whilst flying. If you need to operate it whilst riding, it is easiest and safest to drop the kite in the water or land it on the beach. The trimmer is not very easy to use when flying as the stopper system, whilst the kite is powered, is very difficult to operate due to resistance of friction from the sliding stopper system, especially if the stopper is up against the pulley.

It can still be adjusted but takes two hands: Pull the stopper down away from the pulley, then grab the depower line which runs to the chicken loop cleat above the chickenloop and draw it back perpendicular to the run of the line like you would a bow and arrow, then take up the slack you just pulled with the other hand on the rope coming out of the cleat. Whilst you hold the line coming from the cleat, use your original hand to press the rope deeper into the cleat jaws otherwise it is likely to slip and you'll be back where you started.

You can retrofit the "above the bar" trim system to the bar which is a better option but will take a bit of fiddling and a wise assistant. I will help you if you bring the bar in to me, or the guys at Airborne would be pleased to help you out I'm sure.

I'm sure the guys at the design end of things are working on a better system for the future.

Hope this helps,

I used to ride with mine upside down as Darren describes, so the trigger is on the right hand side. Never really have any issues with the cleat, whether I use it upside down or not, just pull it on then put your thumb on top of the rope as it exits the cleat and it wil lock in.

Thanks guys for the advice!
I'll ride with the chicken loop upside down with trigger RHS & cleat underside...will see how that goes, otherwise Darren may take you up on that retrofit.
Cheers!
